Great article to read. See how regions differ on equipment based on what they routinely face.

Total of 22 pumpers on order right now. The front-line engine fleet and most of the reserves will almost be identical by next year.

according to the shop guy's they will go to 6, 22, 45, 61. my guess is that 6 and 22 go to 71 and 75 since they are currently non quints, those rigs will go into reserve  45's current kme rig will go to 49 and don't know who will get 61's

Was reading some meeting agendas and minutes from Heartland recently and saw that a possible merger with NCDJPA was in the talks.

There is talk about this possible merge in the 3rd paragraph of their 2016-2017 Financial Plan which you can read here.

We do this in the Phoenix metro area, all agencies are designated numbers. Example: Phoenix is like 1-100, Mesa is 200-229, Gilbert 250's (they have 2510 & 2511), Tempe is 270's, Chandler is 280's (they have 2810), etc. But it's common to refer to your own station/apparatus as single/double digits (Mesa E207 is referred to E7, Gilbert E2510 is E10).

The new Engine is not a Rescue-Engine.  And T4 is being built now. It's expected to be delivered this year if not early next.

This engine is the replacement for Rescue 5. Rescue 5 has been placed permanently out of service. There will now be two engines out of Station 5.

Looks like Santee did decide to go red.  Here's the link for their new engine.  Be on the look out for their new truck in the next few months.

Santee's Chief wanted to see red.  And red was supposedly cheaper than yellow paint.  They will not paint the current yellow apparatus; they will retire out staying yellow.  I heard this Engine purchase was because they were going to build a third station.  Probably not put this Engine there, but rather 4's current rig so Station 4 will become all red (with the new truck and moving the brush to the new station).

Sad to see the yellow buses go.

The Border Fire is definitely bringing some interesting sights to El Cajon. The day the fire started SDFD E44 went code by my house in El Cajon on the way to the Border Fire, there are also some strike teams in various parking lots around El Cajon either resting or grouping up to head down to the fire.

The only specialized piece I see listed is this.

    51. Replacement Helicopter - - - Funding in the amount of $18.041 million is included in the Municipal Improvement Corporation of Los Angeles (MICLA) financing program to purchase one Augusta AW 139 helicopter. This will enable the Department to retire one Bell 412 helicopter which has exceeded its useful life

As to USARs, Squads, etc  unknown as to if they are due to be replaced.

Here is the link for additional info.

4X4 apparatus has always made me laugh.Sure the cab and body are lifted high. Big deal! The front and rear differential are still the same height.
  23. Rescue51 liked a post in a topic by lkseng3 in El Cajon AMR Deal
Maybe with AMR now in El Cajon, maybe we will see a triage system put into place through Heartland because AMR units will come cover El Cajon when those AMR units aren't available.  El Cajon used to downgrade calls only when the Medic unit felt like they could handle it alone.

I believe there is still an agreement with Santee, El Cajon, and Lakeside to still use the closest Medic unit.  Because it would not make sense to wait for an AMR unit to come from Chula Vista to El Cajon for a transport when the CSA Medics are available.
  24. Rescue51 liked a post in a topic by 619Emergencys in El Cajon AMR Deal
Looking at PulsePoint M438 is no longer a 12HR unit, they are now 24HR and have replaced M8, M440 is now the 12HR unit at station 8, the only fire medic left for Heartland is M9.
  25. Rescue51 liked a post in a topic by 619Emergencys in El Cajon AMR Deal
    I couldn't agree any more.

Also M440 took a call today in El Cajon, I don't believe there are currently any AMR rigs in the area with this unit number, I'm guessing this is the 3rd medic that will be in El Cajon with the new contract, not sure why its numbered 440, I thought the units were going to be numbered 436-439.
