Thanks for that information 'joeyk48'.  I did not know that other incident of arson was Apple Valley, thought it was closer to O.C..  Glad they got the suspect in-custody on the Apple Valley incident.

That is sad!  There was another incident just in last week I will try to get more info on, about an arson fire at one of the fire stations in Southern California, generally in that area, that destroyed some kind of outside structure.  I hope we do not have some strange series.  I will follow-up soon with more info.

the fire took truck 61, battalion 8 usar  support 61 and a zodiac inflatable boat used for water rescue, engine 61, (on a reserve engine ) was not consumed and was used in the firefighting effort.  there were already plans to replace this station in the very near future, around the corner from where it is now, looks like the plans will be accelerated now. the other incident that rescue 51 was referring to was in apple valley, where a fire station out building was destroyed, the arsonist was apprehended near the scene

I believe it is housed in El Segundo. The rigs at that station are numbered 41 and 42. Richmond's station numbering is in the 60's.

Funny, a Texas flag and a good BBQ with some steaks in a special compartment too!
I'm thinking the enclosure in this case must be to protect the FF's from any exposure to chemicals and smoke.  Thanks for the info on those monitors, that is good data and interesting on the GPM flows.   Ferrara has an impressive rig called the Inundator Super Pumper (see pic, photo credit to Ferrara).  I've seen them advertising it lately.  Take care...

Pretty sure its going to Texas because of the flag on the girl
The enclosed cab is actually a popular option in Canada due to the extreme weather conditions. I know the max capacity of Pierce Industrial Pumpers is 3000 gpm. The large monitor in the middle looks to be a Williams Ambassador monitor which is capable of flowing 5000 gpm, and I'm assuming there's 2 rear monitors, which I think are TFT Monsoon monitors, which can flow 2000 gpm.

I have not heard the new truck code yet but by the way you describe it it could be running the Whelen Epsilon which is the same siren B2 and M4 run.

Here's a video of M4 running code with the Epsilon.

I'm with you EMT_FS46 on this one. I'm really surprised the county would even be interested in doing a survey for Hermosa. This city is not even surrounded by county stations. Unlike the other cities that the county has contracts with ie. Hawthorne, Gardena, Inglewood, etc. I can remember when Inglewood city council put a request for a survey for the F.D., L.A. City was also interested. Because some Inglewood stations could provide better response times to areas in L.A. City. Another story that comes to mind, is that at one time (60's - 80's), a small pocket of County jurisdiction (Manhattan Beach' El Portal section) was covered by L.A. County 21's from Lawndale and the Squad came from 18's in Lennox (before 21's had a squad). A PRETTY GOOD DRIVE for both.
It really benefits the firefighters NOT the city. Firefighters make more money, can work at a station closer to home. And more opportunities to do other things in the county. In the beginning the only guys that stay in a newly contracted city, are the engineers (because they know the city). After awhile, none of the original guys are at that station/city it seems.  Just my 2 cents. Happy New Years

I wonder if Heartland and Cities involved  are getting volume deal from Pierce for the standard engines, With 4 now in place, I wonder also if they might be replacing E13, E210, And possibly E7 and E9 in near future which would make a deal like that work

while the quantum's are nice rigs, they are the most expensive on the pierce line. the arrow xt's that everybody seems to be buying are also great rigs. keep in mind that the arrow's are built with a lot of input from la city fire, who gets a lot of work as well as abuse on their rigs. with budgets being what they are  you just get more bang for the buck  with these rigs

The new Pierce TDA has been delivered from Pierce to South Coast Equipment, to Santee FD.  The new ship was driving around station 4's today.  Beautiful rig.  They are doing training and placing all their equipment on-board. Not sure how long that is going to take, but I suspect much quicker than LAFD.

    On the new SFFD rescues.
The siren is Code 3 Screaming Eagle Mechanical siren. (sounds similar to the federal Q2B saw clips of em on YouTube)
    Hope this helps.

Our squads here in the City are staffed by 4. An officer and 3 firemen. Historically, our squads haven't had bells. As a whole, our engines and trucks have bells as a traditional  thing and as a last ditch effort if all other warning devices fail. We elected to NOT have chevrons put on as stated above, its just a strong recommendation. We have the short wheel based rigs due to our geographical area [ hills, tight streets, etc]. Hope this helps.

I saw an ambulance the other day here in San Diego (maybe Adams Ave. or near it) that actually had a red and blue strobe bar on the front (white ambulance with orange striping). I think I made reference to it in an earlier post, but chalked it up to seeing it in a screen on a bus.
Not sure if that's technically legal, but it should be. A combo of blue and amber is always good for rear-facing lighting.

To 'California Red':  Sounds almost like some LE vehicle, or maybe an ambulance from Arizona?   There have been some SWAT teams around the country that have bought either new or used medic type rigs to actually serve as a storage vehicle for all their gear.   Do you remember when the SDSO was providing medic rigs in our East County rural/mountain areas like Julian, Cuyamacas, and Mt. Laguna?  I believe the deputies manning those rigs were only EMT's  (maybe they had medics but I do not think so).  But wanna really age us, go back to when SDPD and La Mesa PD had Ford Econo vans as their ambulances for our city coverage (I believe they were called "Henry" units).  They had the single rotating beacon emergency lights, originally all red, then they went with blue rotating beacons with the single steady red forward lense.
I too think blue emergency light would be great on fire/medic rigs, since blue is better seen at night, but I doubt the State of California is going to allow that.  The attitude is only law enforcement may have any blue.  In light of that (excuse the pun), I have stated I think in the front and side, the combo of red and white lights works best for recognition by motorists, and in the rear, a combo of red and amber.

Cal statute states one steady burning red to the front, on flashing amber to the rear, that is the minimum required.  if they did not meet the minimums, could they be cited, yes, would they be cited, unlikely,  unless there was a traffic accident.
