New KME quick-attack wildland, Type-6 for Escondido Fire

3 posts in this topic

Text and photo credit to the KME Facebook page.  Sharp looking rig.   I was reading many more departments are opting for the smaller brush rigs like the one picture below, over the typical Type-3 rigs, primarily due to lower cost for acquisition--given tight budgets, but also because the Type-6 rigs can often beat the larger rigs to the scene, and the lower weights/smaller size of Type-6 or quick attacks, allows them to access areas not even the Type-3's can reach.  Of course the penalty is lower water tank capacity (300 gal in the case of the rig below).  ~Rescue51

"Escondido Fire Department, CA’s Type 6 Skid UnitDesigned exclusively for off-road brush attack is Escondido Fire Department, CA’s Type 6 Skid Unit. Configured to meet the NWCG type 6 requirements the truck is equipped with a Darley Pump, 300 gallons of water and 20 Type A foam. The truck also has a 2” lift kit built on a stainless steel brush patrol body, front grill guard and a transverse storage compartment above the rear wheel. This girl is built to take on the extreme conditions of the California terrain and forest fires. http://bit.ly/2eUkh77 "

Howdy all!

Oceanside Fire has something similar to EFDs new rig.

(Its made by Pierce and its Attack 2160)

Good for places a regular brush rig cant go in.

Interesting what Unit # will be fer EFD.

See ya!
