Correct, From what was discussed after the fire, the new station is just around the corner from the old station.

Ferrara did our 2 heavy rescue squads and is currently doing our 8 new engines. Truck bid isnt awarded yet. 2 new cliff rescue rigs are in service and 2 new surf rescue rigs within the next year or so.

Good questions 'mesabill'.  Hope all is well.  Chatter i heard was El Cajon FD was looking for ways to reduce the medical aid runs T6 was doing, due to the wear-and-tear and all those apartment building entries the truck was doing.  I suspect T6 still has the rescue capacity, though I am not sure if "heavy rescue".  It seemed T6 just went back into service recently while La Mesa T11 seems out of service in the past week.   As you know, RE-12 out of La Mesa is rolling on many Heartland F&R rescues.  The guys down at SDFR station 4's (downtown), told me they are very impressed with the amount of rescue gear Heartland RE12 is equipped with.   Since Santee retired R5 with no intention to place another rescue box there, El Cajon no longer has a dedicated rescue, and La Mesa does not, it seems Heartland could use a rescue rig, if not heavy rescue or even "USAR".  A recent article in Fire Apparatus & Emergency Equipment discussed that the trend is many departments were going to trucks and rescue-pumpers for such rescue resources, but more departments are rethinking this and many going back to dedicated rescue rigs, many with small pumps/tanks.
Back to Truck 6 getting all worn out (too early), they did inhibit the all-steer system on the truck a while ago, which caused a few dents here and there, and do not know if that was just ECFD, or a Pierce directive.  My recommendation to the BC of ECFD was take that Ford pick-up (4 man cab) housed at station 9's (it was the former B3), put it at 6's, and use that as a "squad" to run all the MED AIDS that T6 rolls out on.  But the philosophy of the department is to roll the truck on MED AIDS to assure the truck can respond on any structures/rescues without having the FF's go back to fetch the truck.  I disagree with that philosophy, respectfully.

I guess those v6 fords just can't keep up to highway policing. To me the ford works on urban policing ( inter-city ).

Engine 141? The North Zone must be changing unit numbering to a 3-digit system.

    Howdy folks!
    Nice looking rig!
    E141 instead of E1411?
NorthComm must be changing their IDs is my theory.
Seems the FDs in the county loved the red/black scheme.

guys , don't believe everything you hear. pierce is the # 1 fire truck builder in the us as well as overseas. there are literally hundreds of rigs turned out by pierce every year and have never had a rig returned for a weak roof. the process for cab manufacturing is the same for every rig that pierce turns out, there is no special process for la city so if it was truly a problem with the cab roofs it would be a problem with every rig pierce has turned out across the board.  as for the turntable issue, it could be  a change order that city submitted after the rigs were completed, happens all the time, new innovations, better parts,  I have also heard it is a problem with the bean counters at city hall

Last week,  I had the opportunity to check out the new LAFD Heavy Rescue 56. What an impressive rig!!
2016 Peterbilt 567  with a Century 50 Ton Rotator (can be remote controlled) and body, 10KW generator, and air compressor syste,m, amongst many other customizations.
This rig replaces a similar rig, a 2003 Peterbilt/Century, which will become a fully equipped spare. The spare is replacing the former spare, which will be kept in the USAR caches.
Thanks again to the crew at Station 56 and the HR56 guys!

I'll have some photos of it that I got yesterday  up on here soon.
The old one will be a fully equipped spare, that can go into service without any equipment transfer. The older one will be a reserve.

Funny title. Lifeguards are part of San Diego Fire-Rescue. The headline should read that they are at odds with their Chief.

These are Mercy medics who serve the Zone 2 Rural area of East County, there is not much info about them online. There is some info on them though in this article that the East County Magazine did when the county changed from AMR to Mercy in Zone 2 a few years ago.

Yes 'E0001' , thanks for posting the link to those photos.   To 'x635' I could be wrong but believe Escondido may have recently taken a delivery of a Sutphen.  I know their older pumpers are Sutphen (if I have this right, and the right agency).

That is one interesting rig.  Pierce delivered to Lyondell Chemical, for Colorado and/or Texas.   I assume that large enclosure is for firefighters to remain protected from any possible chemical exposure while operating the monitors.  Wonder what the GPM capacity is of that beast?  Note the large deck gun then the monitor towards the rear of the rig.
