Escondido just ordered 3 Sutphen pumpers along with one BME Model 34 brush rig and three ambulances.
Pretty rare for a Southern California agency to switch from Pierce to Sutphen.

SDFD has two new tractor drawn aerials on order. Slated to go to Trucks 1 and 35 for now. Also have 9 engines, 2 brush rigs, 2 light and air units, and 8 BC command pickups on order. BC's are going to Ford F series pickup trucks with a shell.

The canine handler from CHV was working on E56 that day so he responded with his dog onboard the engine.

For many decades it was Phenix. Not sure if it still is or not.

Both the KME rescue and Haz-Mat are still in service as reserves. It was previously misreported in this forum that they were gone.

OES Type-1 engines have been numbered in sequential order starting in 1953 with OES1.
The numbering on the Type-3 engines, water tenders, and hazmat units differs.
The Type-3 engines are 4 digit numbers starting with an 8 (no idea why) followed by a second digit indicating the OES region (1-6), a 3 or 4 indicating Type-3 engine, and a 4th digit assigned in order.
The water tenders and hazmat units are two digit. First digit indicates region.

Rescue51 liked a post in a topic by E0001 in California front red steady and rear amber flashing question
The California Vehicle Code only requires a steady burning forward facing red light .There has never been a requirement for rear facing amber lights, although that has been fairly standard in California.

Rescue51 liked a post in a topic by E0001 in SDFD USAR 41
USAR41 is cross-staffed by the crew of Engine 41.
It has been used by USAR2 when no reserve rescue is available for them. Currently there is one older reserve rescue unit still around. A KME if I recall correctly.
Rescue 44 is operated by the lifeguards and is quartered at the Lifeguard HQ at Quivira Point. It has been special called to non-coastal related incidents sporadically. One I can remember was a tree rescue in Rancho Bernardo.
Hope this helps.
