I'm hearing it should be in service near the end of 2016 or so. http://www.sandiego6.com/news/local/City-Council-authorizes-over-800K-for-fire-station-in-downtown-San-Diego-265427641.html

Station 48 will be in Black Mountain Ranch, Station 49 Otay Mesa, and Station 50 University City somewhere. Squad 50 should be in service sometime during the next fiscal year. Posted April 29, 2015 One big question is why is engine 33 getting a new rig. They already have one. What happened to engine 22? It can't be that the rig won't fit in the station. They currently have a pierce. Temporary station 51 is just about ready to open. Station 48 and 50 are in the design phase I believe and station 49 is still a few years off, but I believe they have the land.
Posted May 5, 2015 Would Station 1 keep Engine 201 or it would be moved to Station 2?.
Posted May 5, 2015 Article says E201 goes to new station as E2, Chief says going to try and get future funding for 2nd engine out of either 1 or 2 house
Posted May 22, 2015 I live in 5's area, Hillcrest. At our "town council" meeting, they talked about 5's relocation. I understood it was getting somewhat bigger. Is 5 getting a truck?
Posted May 23, 2015 Yes, station 5 is scheduled to get a truck when their new station is built, that is if they get funding for the crews. They are only relocating temporarily while the new station is being built at 9th and University. Their temporary location will be a couple of blocks north of Park Blvd and University. Stations 17 and 22 will also have temporary locations. As far as I know stations 5, 17 and 22 are schedule for construction in the 2016 budget. That budget starts this July 1st. I would suspect if these stations start construction sometime after July 1st it will take 1 1/2 years plus to complete the construction. As for station 45, they do not get funding for additional staff until the new budget year starts. They are suppose to get a brand new apparatus for truck 45. Posted June 13, 2015 Don't know for sure, but I believe truck 45 is going to be a tiller.
Posted June 14, 2015 Looks like the HAZ MAT is completed. There's a photo of it in a parade in Wi on the Pierce Mfg. Facebook page
Posted June 14, 2015 Hopefully the department will get better tillers from Pierce and not Crimson.
Posted June 16, 2015 Well this is a hoot. 45's is getting a tiller and not a rear mount ladder truck. I read somewhere the department was going for all rear mount trucks. Maybe they had a change of heart. Should be interesting to say the least.
Posted July 21, 2015 I went by the old repair facility and saw that the 5 new pierce type 1's are being outfitted there. I looks like engine 51 will be first out as their new temp. station opens for business I believe August 1st. Also it looks like the new fire station 5 is due to start construction in August. Probably the start of construction means the building of the temp. station on Park Blvd. first. Fire station 17 is scheduled for January 2016 and station 22 is scheduled for Feb. 2016. I also believe fire station 2 (Bayside station) is scheduled to start construction in the 2016 budget year, which of course started July 1st.

Posted October 27, 2015 E22 has been assigned E47's 2007 Pierce Dash (1929). Correction...1929 was marked as E22, but is now being used as a reserve. E22 is still in 1590. Maybe they had a space issue at Station 22?
