Posted May 4, 2015 Are the new TDA's going to replace the current TDA's in Orange County's fleet or will they be replacing the older sutphen platforms that Orange County currently has?
Posted May 5, 2015 I wonder if the tillers will be dual axle like the ALF's...
Posted May 5, 2015 I wonder if the tillers will be dual axle like the ALF's... Per the link "These tandem axle units have an equipment capacity of double the NFPA requirement for an aerial ladder!"
Posted May 5, 2015 ocfa 's sutphen quints are all in reserve status except for truck 9 and 34 which are on new sutphen quints. I think the 4 new tda's will probally go to the buiser trucks like 6,22,61 and those will be passed down . there are 4 trucks in ocfa still on 75 foot single axle quints which are well overdue for replacement, trucks 43,49,59 and 64 my guess they get the hand me downs
Posted May 5, 2015 Per the link "These tandem axle units have an equipment capacity of double the NFPA requirement for an aerial ladder!" Thanks! I guess I did not read far enough

Posted June 22, 2016 several of the new engines are out, engines 19 ,35 44 got new rigs . not sure where the rest went. also station 10 in yorba linda is getting a new station, when completed truck 34 , usar 34 and battalion 2 will be relocated to station 10 as it is in the center of the battalion and affords better coverage to all
Posted August 21, 2016 I passed the KME dealer in Ontario today and one of the OCFA tillers was there.

Posted August 22, 2016 Did you get a pic of the new Orange County tiller at KME No. It was behind a fence and not positioned to take a good picture. No numbering either.
Posted August 22, 2016 Anyone have a guess as to which stations will get the new tillers? My guess is station 71 and 75 then possibly 43 and 49. Although I am not sure if 43's and 59's is big enough to house tillers.
Posted August 22, 2016 The new quints were purchased to replace Trucks 43, 49, 64, 71. Whether they actually go to those companies or not remains to be seen.
Posted August 22, 2016 T45, the 75ft aerial, will replace T49 and the new tiller will go to 45s
Posted August 23, 2016 according to the shop guy's they will go to 6, 22, 45, 61. my guess is that 6 and 22 go to 71 and 75 since they are currently non quints, those rigs will go into reserve 45's current kme rig will go to 49 and don't know who will get 61's Rescue51 likes this
Posted August 23, 2016 I wonder why they don't just send the new trucks to the stations that need them instead of do the hand me down thing?
Posted August 24, 2016 because it slows down the wear and tear on them and increases the life expectancy meaning you replace them less often. that is done in most departments particually departments that run paramedic engines
Posted August 24, 2016 So OCFA will have at least 9 TDA'S in frontline service plus the 2 or 3 that used to belong to Santa Ana.
Posted August 25, 2016 negative, truck 71 and truck 75 from santa ana will be relaced with tiller quints being passed down. truck 76 is a kme 75 foot that used to be in Stanton. truck 79 is a 100 foot non tiller quint
Posted August 25, 2016 Thanks and can't wait to see the new trucks in service and I also remember when Orange County used to have snorkels back in the 80's.
