WT2 will run in tandem with E2 like they previously did with WT7251 as well as extra staffing during Red Flags.
    From Lakeside's Facebook:
Lakeside Fire Protection District has a great new tool being added to our line of fire apparatus for the approaching fire season. Our new Water Tander (WT2) is ready to be put in service. It is a Spartan US tanker. Specs are: Freightliner chassis, 196 inch wheel base, Cummins L9 350 hp engine, 750 GPM Hale water pump, 2000 gallon water tank and a 2100 gallon foldable porta tank. It will serve Lakeside for many years to come. Welcome WT2!

L&A 46 is being staffed with San Miguel's Logistics Division.  They are looking with other Heartland Departments for everybody to go in on a new Light & Air unit.

San Miguel got OES 297 when they went back to being independent from Cal Fire. When they went to Cal Fire, they lost both of their OES engines. OES 305 went to Lakeside at Station 26 and OES 307 went to Chula Vista Station 52 last I saw.
As Dloemt stated, the rig/equipment and personnel double as a Type 3 USAR company.  If you remember the Kern County Earthquake around 4th of July, there were several OES strike teams that were sent.
It would be nice if some of the larger departments (6-10 stations) got more OES equipment to be used on large scale events/strike team deployments. Often times, OES apparatus are used as reserves if the department's frontlines are out of service. The only caveat is if the OES apparatus is out of service at the time of an OES strike team deployment, the host department has to send their own apparatus on the strike team. Hence why LAFD had to get their own Type 3's to assist with OES Type 3 strike teams if an OES Type 3 was out of service.

14's is busier than 22's, even though 22's call volume has seemingly gone up in the recent years.  16's is by far busier than 22's and is the busiest in the district.  Last I heard, T15 is still being discussed in the apparatus committee. I haven't heard if it has been awarded any manufacturer yet.  L&A 46 (E-One) is going to be excessed and will be out of service soon.

BR46 belongs to San Miguel.  Since BR14 is out of the county, they are utilizing a reserve Brush out of 14's.  San Miguel's Ferrara Rescue (Old R18) is lettered as R46 and the E-One Rescue/Light and Air is now LA46.  The reason why they went with 46, is because it can be housed at any station in the district without changing the numbering. And if you know the Central Zone's numbering, 46 belongs to San Miguel.

The new Engine is not a Rescue-Engine.  And T4 is being built now. It's expected to be delivered this year if not early next.

Looks like Santee did decide to go red.  Here's the link for their new engine.  Be on the look out for their new truck in the next few months.

Santee's Chief wanted to see red.  And red was supposedly cheaper than yellow paint.  They will not paint the current yellow apparatus; they will retire out staying yellow.  I heard this Engine purchase was because they were going to build a third station.  Probably not put this Engine there, but rather 4's current rig so Station 4 will become all red (with the new truck and moving the brush to the new station).

Sad to see the yellow buses go.

Maybe with AMR now in El Cajon, maybe we will see a triage system put into place through Heartland because AMR units will come cover El Cajon when those AMR units aren't available.  El Cajon used to downgrade calls only when the Medic unit felt like they could handle it alone.

I believe there is still an agreement with Santee, El Cajon, and Lakeside to still use the closest Medic unit.  Because it would not make sense to wait for an AMR unit to come from Chula Vista to El Cajon for a transport when the CSA Medics are available.

I would imagine it would be placed in service as the new E4.  If this happened about a year ago, I would say the older Dash would be sold. However, in light of the string of fires that popped up in May, I imagine the Dash will be kept as another reserve.  At one point, I believe Heartland had (2) Type 1 Strike Teams out in addition to (1) Type 3 Strike Team outside the Central Zone.  With San Miguel no longer with Heartland (for the time being), it put a strain on staffing and resources in the area.  But that is another topic for later discussion.  A lot of the departments within Heartland have been keeping reserve Engines longer then they have before and are now staffing these rigs when units are out of the Zone.

It appears as though this new Engine is an Arrow XT.  It appears that the only difference between the current Engine 5 (I believe a 2012 ? Arrow XT Engine) and this new Engine, is the "boxes" on top of the cab that I believe are the Air Conditioning units.

I would imagine the next rig to be replaced in Santee would be the Truck.  This is my own opinion, but I think it will be best to spec the Truck to be a TDA with a Tank and Pump, and with a pre-plumbed waterway.  This way, when the Engine is out of the Zone, the Truck would be able to cover it's district with suppression capabilities.  This is something San Diego City did when they spec'd out the 4 new Trucks they received awhile ago.

Speaking of new Brush rigs, be on the look out this summer for (2) HME Type 3 Engines to be delivered to San Miguel.  Should be delivered about late August, early September.  They will be Model 34D Engines.  Alpine is also due for a new Type 1 that was awarded to KME last I heard.  And lastly, Lakeside's remaining (2) Type 1's should be delivered here anytime soon.

This is old San Miguel OES 305 that used to belong to East County Fire then moved to Station 22 after the merger. Since San Miguel became part of Cal Fire, the department lost it's 2 OES Engines (305, 307). Lakeside has now acquired OES 305 which will be stationed at Station 26 in Blossom Valley and crossed staffed with E26. The old BME brush engine (BR26) is now at Station 1 as Brush 1 due to the arrival of the OES at Station 26.
