Have they started doing more patient transports with their Rescues this year? They only did 9 transports in 2016.

Getting closer to a done deal. It appears AMR will experience a name change possibly.

An Administrative Law Judge and the Director of the Arizona DHS have both denied Hellsgate FD's application for a Certificate of Necessity to operate an ambulance service. The arduous application process took 17 months and ended up costing the fire department $370,000. Life Line Ambulance will continue to provide service to that area of the state.
"The district’s fire board recently put Chief David Bathke on paid non-disciplinary leave and hired an investigator to look into unspecified issues within the department."

Denmark-based Falck and Nevada-based Community Ambulance have submitted applications to the Arizona DHS seeking a 'Certificate of Necessity' to operate ambulance services in Maricopa County.

Buyouts magazine (5-16-2017)
"Envision Healthcare Corp.‘s process to divest its medical-transportation unit is advancing toward what could ultimately produce a deal worth well over $2 billion. First-round proposals for the Envision subsidiary known as AMR, or American Medical Response, were submitted last week" -

Rural Metro ambulances are being rebranded with the AMR name and graphics. It's probably underway in San Diego already. Who knows what will happen if and when AMR is sold. Their future is fuzzy at the moment.

none the less it will be interesting to see how this would affect the current transition. A lot of money has been dumped into the central AZ market.
If an equity investment firm acquires AMR I think we'll see that money flow substantially decrease. Plenty of financial austerity measures will no doubt be put in place.
Will Ted Van Horne retain his role as AMR boss after the sale??? Inquiring minds want to know.

AMR just started brand-new "from scratch" service here in the Metro NY area this week. They already have operations in Upstate NY, but those were former Rural/Metro operations that they acquired when they bought them out.
AMR has pulled out of the Metro NY area twice in the past several years.....they came in, like they always do, assuming they can gobble up all the smaller companies and competition, and in turn get the contracts, but it didn't work out for them.
It will be very interesting to see how this works out if Envision decides to sell the operation.
Yeah, I was thinking they had operations in Metro NY at least once before but I wasn't sure.
I've seen some other photos recently of their new startup operation.

Envision Healthcare is currently accepting bids from companies that are interested in acquiring American Medical Response. The first round of bids should to be completed this month. Additional bidding rounds could take place over the next couple of months. Envision hopes to close on the sale of AMR by the end of this year. It will be interesting to see if AMR is sold in whole, or sold off in chunks.

I haven't heard. Probably very soon. Unfortunately, Wheeled Coach and their local dealer seldom announce deliveries.

In the past year McCormick/Westmed lost its LA County zone #4 911 transport contract. Schaefer lost zone #3 and AMR lost zone #5. All three zones were won by Care Ambulance in a bid process. Care is placing 97 new ambulances into service to cover those zones.
