  1. BLM having a public comment period for transfer  to the City of Henderson for a sports complex and fire station at the intersection of Bermuda rd and Larson in in the sw section of the city. This will be Sta 92

  2. Las Vegas Fire Rescue has opened a new station north of Centennial Hills Hospital right near Kyle canyon road

AFAIK Station 46 will have one engine only

Sounds like they will be second due to Station 853 area

  3. E5331 5361 and 5371 are all listed at NDF Vegas station on WildCAD

Are they at the Vegas Drive office or is there a NDF Vegas fire  station?

I was not aware of any Wildland seasonal NDF engines in Las Vegas except the ones at Kyle and  LEE

I'm likely dating my self I have not worked vegas BLM for 30 years

  4. Maybe because of out of state mutual aid, no blues allowed on Fire apparatus in California.  Or maybe the current fire chief said no to blues.  Hard to say

Everyone got rid of blues in Yuma  because we all run into California so much.  When I got here everyone was red/blue, now only police are Red/Blue.

I dont think we have ever been scolded by CHP, but I think It is just easier not to have to explain.  People are funny about it.  I am  all in the Club for NO blue lights

And I dont think Blues are very visible compared to RED  during the day.  1000 people, 1000 opinions...

  5. Yeah so the reality is it will likely go to one vendor and LACoFD will stay with them if they can get  reliability issues, if any  worked out,  Going to Seagrave is desirable but unless Seagrove is the low bidder, not likely.  The desire  is always to remain with one vendor so you keep ONE set of SPARE PARTS, training, , etc and with a fleet the size of county, you can see why they stayed with KME.  Kida a shame, KME likely made a beater truck recently because of the multiple orders that LA County made and the back and forth county had about quality issues.   Would love to find out why  they stayed with KME all these years. Could be cost, could be cutomer service   Also the bidding and contracting may completely out of the Fire Dept.s hands.  The Fire Dept may have had little choice about it, though I doubt it.

  6. Phoenix was a big E-one customer on the era of the HUSH pumper.  The  Mid engine\Front Hose reel\Rear pump was Phoenix experimenting with weight balance and pump operator ergonomics.  The issue is all that customization is expensive, especially when your fleet is the size of PFDs.

They seen to be going back to a more traditional custom pumper, less of the "Phoenix way"

I don't know much about what goes on these days except that its probably not like the days when Bruno was there,

  7. Its all trade offs, there is never enough money to do what you want.  The other thing to keep in mind is the groups that complain about running this or that too much, are in compitition with those who state a million dollor  truck running no calls is a waste of money.  Plus a rig like a light rescue mini pumper needs manpower unless you are going to strip a truck company to cover the squad....no perfect solutions.
