  1. City of Glendale (AZ) entered into contact with H&E Fire Equipment Services to re-chasis their three (3) ladder tenders on e-one chassis. The first, purchased FY2019-20, has been delivered to H&E awaiting re-mount. A 2nd during FY2020-21 and 3rd FY2021-22. This, after the success of remounting their SQ159 this past year.
  2. Yup, to save a buck maybe.
  3. Yes, most 900 series trucks are ARUs, adaptive response units. There are few exceptions to that rule like E929.
  4. On days the where there is extra staffing, they will bring up E903. In the past, they would borrow an LT from someone and become LT10. Now they have a dedicated all hazards engine to use.
  5. Extra staffing. They are using LT26’s vehicle running out of FS10.
  6. Maricopa Police purchased Phoenix Police’s grey American LaFrance heavy rescue squad used by SAU. Maricopa with transform it into a Police Mobile Command Vehicle. $60,300 purchase price.
  7. Maricopa is close to getting a new Pierce Velocity 107’ Ascendant PUC.... BUT it was tabled until they hired a new financial advisor in hopes the contract would be renegotiated for a better price. I did not speak to any chief buddy or hear rumors to obtain this information. Its a fact straight from public records
  8. New company & full time.
  9. Phoenix needs replacement apparatus, replaced stations, new stations/companies, and about 20 new dispatchers before they can think about a helicopter!.
  10. No, because some cities run their LTs as engine companies and others as ladder companies. You should expect everything but an aerial device on an LT regardless.
  11. There is no specific requirement for a Squad (Heavy Rescue) on any assignment. They would fulfill either TRT, HazMat, Ladder, or any other speciality capability that the incident type (nature code) requires. The 5-mile rule is really so they can go on the initial dispatch when they're close. Doesn't make sense that E44 would go to a fire leaving SQ44 behind when they're closer than someone else. Working Fire or any greater alarms, it doesn't matter. The squads would get picked up for other capabilities. The squads act as ladder companies, just without the big ladder. So when they beat a ladder, they get assigned ladder company tasks. There isn't much a squad can't do.

  13. Haha. Sorry about that... A Phoenix House Fire gets a 3-1 response which stands for 3 engines and 1 ladder. 3 Engines, 1 Ladder, & 2 Battalion Chiefs. A rescue (ambulance) goes if they’re within 4 miles of the fire. A squad goes if they’re within 5 miles of the fire unless they are closer than a ladder and will go in addition to the ladder company. A phoenix working fire gets the following: 3 Engines (4th engine during summer), 1 Ladder, 2 Battalion Chiefs, 1 Rescue (Ambulance), Crisis Response Team (CR unit), Rehab Unit (only during summer), Utility truck, Public Information Officer (PI3), North or South Deputy Chief (NDC/SDC), Squad if the Fire is within 5 miles or they are closer than a Ladder A Phoenix 1st Alarm Working Fire (WF1A) Command Van (CRV or CV30), 2 Ladders, 6 Engines (7th during the summer), Rehab Unit, North or South Deputy Chief, Utility Truck, 3 Battalion Chiefs, Special Operations Captain (C957s/n), Public Information Officer (PI3), Resources Management Captain (RM50), EMS Captain (C959), 1 Rescue (Ambulance), Crisis Response Unit (CR)
  14. BR72, E929, SQ29 temporally indefinitely...
  15. HOUSE - 3/1 Assignment ENG ENG END LAD CMD CMD R (only within 4 mile limit) HR (only within 5 mile limit). WF - Working Fire Assignment ENG, ENG, ENG, ENG (4th during summer months), LAD, CMD, CMD, PSC (PHX Shift Commander), Rescue, RH (only during summer), U, HR (within 5 mile limit), CR, PIO. WF1A - 1st Alarm Working Fire 6 ENG (7th during summer), 2 LAD, RH, Shift Commander, CR, U, 3 CMD, C957S/N, RH, Command Van, C959, RM50, INV, AMB. Heavy Rescues aka Squads (SQ8, SQ29, SQ44) are not required on any assignment (except specials ops) but they fulfill ladder company requirements if they’re close but backed up by a big ladder (aerial device). This is is the generic for PHX only. Every city, sub zone, address could have an alternate response requirement.
