  1. The industry is evolving with competitors taking some business away from AMR while they add some new customers in other cities and towns. It remains to be seen what the actual impact will be in Las Vegas, where the new Fire Chief wants to run much of the medical transports with the existing medic units at LV Fire Rescue.

  2. At this point, I do not think so. Will check with my neighbor, he is a Capt at Station 18.

The new replacement stations have been completed.

He mentioned 5 new engines to be ordered this year.

LVFR is still building new stations, under a bond issue that is ongoing.

  3. yes, a very complicated financial picture in North Las Vegas

The City added many people in all departments to handle enormous growth during the boom.

When all went bust , the foreclosures rate in the City was high. People got laid off in every City department, but that was not enough as people lost their homes and taxes were not paid to the City.

A new mayor and some changes in the City Council plus new financial guidance has caused a change in spending by the City. It may be some years before those new proposed stations are built.

  4. As best as I can tell, Anaheim was buying Spartan units in recent years. They got two new Spartan ERV engines in 2011, does anyone know which companies they were assigned to? Also, got 4 new Spartan aerials in 2007. They also had some new Crimson engines in 2002.

Spartan now has merged all their truck lines in to the Spartan ERV name now.

  5. just an educated guess, a lot less money for the Ferrara's! (volly stations have a lot less calls)

probably $375,000 plus for the Ferrara and the Quantums are almost in the $500,000 range now

  6. Clark County Fire usually purchases at least two Quantums a year. Must be another one out there?

CCFD also has been buying some units for the volly stations, last year bought two quick attack units.

Bought some Ferrara engines a few years before that and a tanker.

  7. Basically, the City of Las Vegas,is lookingforadditional funding for all departments, is trying to grab some revenue on the ambulance runs.

CCFD is still using the large paramedic ambulances for hospital runs only when police or fire personnel are involved a mass casualty situation. This keeps the paramedics in their first due response area to cover all types of medicals, accidents etc 24/7
