Crown foam tender

3 posts in this topic

A Cessna 310 lost the starboard engine on takeoff and while trying to make emergency landing, the twin crashed on the 405 just short of runway at John Wayne/Santa Ana.  The plane clipped a pick-up driven by a fire captain for Avalon, who was uninjured, and actually rescued the two plane occupants from a rapidly growing fire. Both those victims were in serious condition.  The last line Crown for OCFA responded as a foam tender.  Photo credit to unknown news station and Don Croucher of California Fire Museum.  ~Rescue51.

This was LAFD's Crown Foam Carrier stationed at Fire Station 86 in Studio City. It was a 1956 Crown. Went to a tanker fire on the freeway one day and watched it do it's magic.
