Posted January 16, 2019 I think 82's is at the La Cañada-Flintwood station. I was not aware of any LACoFD rigs that had the black over red color scheme. That is interesting. Does anyone know why many Southern California departments are going to black over red? Thanks in advance. -Rescue51.
Posted January 16, 2019 The black over red engine signifies it is a compressed air foam system (CAFS). You can read more about it here. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compressed_air_foam_system
Posted January 17, 2019 Thanks for the information "Generic". However, I thought most of the new pumpers (and that KME is not too new) did have CAFS. I thought that was fairly common now on engine pumps.
Posted January 18, 2019 La County Fire removed all the CAFS systems. New engines will not have this system.
Posted January 18, 2019 Interesting 'pump305'. Do you know why they removed CAFS? I thought CAFS saved a fair amount of water not to mention is better for types of fire suppression.
