Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) Seen in Alpine two weeks ago, Viejas' Pierce quint. Anyone know is that a reserve to E25? Other question is how do they give a designation of a "truck" when others will call that a quint or even squirt? Does calling it truck mean it is always staffed by at least 4 (instead of 3 minimum). Is it something related to the ladder or gear/tools carried? I am not certain but guessing that is about a 65 foot ladder. Posted June 16, 2015 It is a 75' Quint, San Diego county agencies haven't adopted Quint designation, as of yet, still using Truck. Most tele-squrt equipped are called Engine. I noticed Riverside County FD now has Quint 90 and Quint 97 so wouldn't be surprised to see SD Cal Fire adapting Quint designation in future
Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) Thanks 'Mesabill'. I am assuming the Native Indian reservations all got quints/trucks to do something with of course their own fire suppression for the casinos they have (speaking of Barona, Sycuan and Viejas) (multi-level structures), but additionally for insurance rates. The Pierce trucks for Viejas and Sycuan are almost identical if I am correct, delivered in similar time periods. Barona's truck is newer and an actual "truck" speaking of a longer ladder length (than 75 feet). It is on a Ferrara chassis (a quint as well). I am not sure how they are all staffing both an engine and truck, unless they are cross-staffing, and using the quints as reserve rigs to the front-line pumpers.
