Rural/Metro Pressed for Details on Chapter 11 Exit Plan

Rural/Metro Corp., the troubled ambulance operator backed by Warburg Pincus, is still filling in some key blanks in its Chapter 11 exit proposal, including details of its pension liabilities and an employee class-action case that seeks as much as $40 million in damages.

I think Rural/Metro will be pretty secure in the long run, especially with the bankruptcy filing allowing them to get out of some debt. On the EMS side, they hold a lot of good contracts that other providers and cities can't handle.  

 

I think the Fire part of their business nowadays in very expensive for them to provide, and that's where they are taking a lot of the hit. I see them getting out of that in the future.

 

I can't see anyone buying them out, either. AMR doesn't seem to be actively pursuing much lately and has dumped some contracts and other things where they don't make a good profit.
