NPS Lake Mead Fire

3 posts in this topic

Does anyone know how many and where the Engine companies at Lake Mead NRA.  NPS lists it as a "Engine Company Park"

Do they respond to calls on I-11/US93 ?

I assume they have ambulances also, NPS or Contract

My info is pretty heavily dated (20+ years), but I did volunteer out there as an EMT so it is first hand. I never responded further than Callville to the North and Hoover Dam to the South.

Station 4 (Boulder Beach):

Engine 4 (Cross Staffed by LE Rangers)

Rescue 4 (Staffed by volunteers. Responded to the entire Nevada side of Lake if staffed. Cross Staffed by LE Rangers after hours or if no volunteers. I think has paid staffing now. Not sure if Contractors or Park employees)

Station 5 (Callville Bay)

Engine 5 (Cross Staffed by LE Rangers)

Rescue 5 (Cross Staffed by LE Rangers)

Station 6 (Willow Beach)

Engine 6 (Cross Staffed by LE Rangers)

I think had an Ambulance.....but not sure.

I think now the wildland crews are also now responding to calls if in the district.

I asked on another forum and was told most Engine company parks are short on rangers and those that are there have let their Firefighter certs lapse.

Don't know if this is true, but there are no more covered engines, they call mutual aid in from Boulder City, or other close departments?

Two rescue units are in service with ALS, but no transports out of the park, AMR comes in.
