Posted June 22, 2019 There used to be a Rural Coordinator that assisted the rural Stations when I worked at Mountain Springs. what is the current organization now? Apparently Moapa, Logandale is a Fire District ? Are there any plans to convert Volunteer stations to paid status due to Run volume? Still running on VHF? Paging or using 800? Thanks
Posted June 23, 2019 Hello. Currently, the Rural Division is under command of an assistant chief (Call Sign A-2). Moapa, Logandale, and Overton are now the "Moapa Valley Fire District", with the same station numbers. Mount Charleston (Station 81) is now the Mount Charleston Fire Protection District with Paid Station 853 (Old NDF Station), Volunteer Station 853 (Old CCFD 81), and Station 856 (Unsure what it used to be). As far as radios, the rural division is now with the Southern Nevada Area Communications Council (SNACC). The name of the channel on SNACC is "Rural Fire Dispatch". The Talkgroup ID is 2659. As far as I am aware, there are no plans to make all volunteer Stations paid at this time.
