  1. today I saw a new county fire station in the middle of being being built .off Hasley canyon . does anyone have any idea of the staffing of this station might be ? . it looks like a fairly large station house . it's between 149's and right around the corner from 76's which is an engine and patrol and 149's is a squad engine and a patrol .

  2. as long as i have been around (to long to mention ...) all have refered to fire departments unit numbers as; for example 111's  88's with an S added to that unit . does anyone know why or how this came about? the reason i ask is someone asked me . i never thought about it always accepted thats the way things are . just courious !!

  3. i live by 111's they only have an engine and squad . so how did they get engine 132 and the oes rig to the same fire ? maybe they might have more than one engineer or can the captian drive the engine as well . the county only runs with a 3 man crew on an engine as i recall . so do they bring both to the fire and use the type one to pump with an engineer and staff the type 3 with crews on scene to fill the need of the type 3 . also the rigs i saw said blm one them  . i wish i could have taken a picture but i would have held up emergency traffic which  i wont do .

  4. i know LACoFD's station 132 in santa clarita , they keep a type 3 rig in the bay next to eng 132 . i was under the impression that the county fire guys manned the type 3 when the need arises . does anyone else know at what other stations in santa clarita ,do they keep one of these rigs . my confusion comes form a wildland fire/mobile home fire up bouquet cyn  , i saw 2 of the oes type 3's on scene . and also saw eng 132 there as well so who's manning those type 3's if both engines are in service .

  5. on typical radio procedure they dont announce deaths on the  air  . if they do they use radio codes  . LACoFD uses a code F  LA sheriffs uses 927 D  or they make request they dont known on the MDT in the rigs  .......

  6. about a year ago i spoke to the pm's at 111's they said the next squads were going to be dodges . they also said they were going to be the next size up from the 3500's  has anyone heard or know what the new squads are ?

  7. copy that ! an ego has no business on a tc !   along time ago i was working with a female partner ,we were dispached to a maternity call when we got their the woman went by private auto . on my way out i stopped a shoplifter and wrestled him to the ground and  my partner radioed a help call . i worked for a private ambulance company . but what came to my aide blew my mind . i had chp, pd sheriff and fire and fellow ambulance co. all show up ! so even us privates were part of the brotherhood . i sure was happy to see all that backup . dont know what she said but the calvary showed up ! fire engines truck co's  and ambulances and cop cars  i walked out of the store and it looked like a convention of ems! we may argue amungest ourselves , but we all watch out for each other !  and thats cool!

  8. a few years back the la county sheriffs captured a presuit bad guy . the chp was also on scene . this was in the sheriffs jursidiction and their bust . the chp argued that it was their arrest . and the 2 departments began arguing who should take the perp to jail . the funny thing is the chp has no holding cells at their station here in santa clarita . they book all prisoners at the LASD station . to continue  both departments got into a very heated argument. from what i was told by a deputy they almost came to blows . i am still not sure who took the guy to jail ! so captians from both departments also got into it . finally sheriff baca and the chp top guy had to step in .  the prisoner must have been freaking out . no one got hurt .  true story !

  9. years ago when i worked for an ambulance company , i was chased down on a code 3 call transporting for LACoFD . this officer pulled us over wanting to know where we going in such a hurry . i explained we were in route to an emergency call . the officer followed us to the sceen . then departed when he saw the fire dept. on sceen and we pulled out our gurney . i have also seen on you tube videos in other states of fire fighters being arrested for this same thing .  i dont get it ! sceen safety is priorty one .  in my opinion the CHP is way out of line. we are all on the same team . the job is dangerous enough with CHP pulling this stunt . why wasnt the CHP helping to secure the sceen to help clear up the TA asap .instead of hasseling the FD .
