  1. Just want to lets you guys know that station 46 and I think 66 now have two paramedic RA's. Rescue 246 and 266. If anyone knows of any other new rescues that have recently gone in to service feel free to add to this.
  2. Monterey Park piggy backs off L.A. County and buys the same exact rigs.
  3. Has any of the new KME's hit the streets yet ? or are they still sitting at the shop.
  4. Thanks for the info guys.
  5. the only thing that needs to be done is build more hospitals and urgent care centers. People either don't know and or assume that going to the ER rather by ambulance or on there on will not get them seen faster. When you have people who uses the ER/hospital as there care provider because they do not have insurance makes things worst. LAFD response times are the way they are because they spend a whole lot of time with non-serious injured/sick people waiting on beds. at some hospitals they will try to get to the patient fast, evaluate them and send the to the triage are. With that being said I hear people saying and writing on these boards LAFD need to scrap their ambulances and contract service it really wouldn't matter because you would still get tied at the hospital waiting for a bed. The focus should be on getting people without life threatening conditions to go to urgent care and not the ER.
  6. honestly I don't know but im assuming since they do have the red lights that they can respond code 3.
  7. as far as I now all the quint with the pre piped plumbing are 75ft and maybe a few 100ft are older models. the ones with out the pre pipe are the newer ones which are 100ft.
  8. no I believe tat is the original lightbar on usar 88. its all LED wit rotators on the corner ends. all the squads have the same lightbar as well. are there any pics of engine 104 with the new lightbar???
  9. The only LA city LA county auto aid I know of is on brush fires depending on where it is and how big it is. LA county fire capm crews usually does the mop up work. West Hollywood has auto aid with city on fires only. I believe they'll get LA city E41 and sometimes 27s depending on the fire. Another area might also be marina del rey. for the most part both departments handles there own. County takes it upon themselves to respond to a LA city structure fire by listening to a scanner but other than that they handle their own.
  10. Any new words on the bids for the new trucks and have any of the new engines hit the streets yet or how long we it be before they do?
  11. everybody can come up with what they feel the LAFD should do but reality is the light force task force concepts works for LAFD. No companies should have ever been closed. Instead the LAFD needs to re-evaluate how they respond to medical calls. Example before station 46 added an additional paramedic rescue u had E46 RA46 RA846. E46 is a paramedic engine. not sure if there is one or 2 medic on board. a lot of time u get engine and rescue 46 on a person down call. That takes both medic resources out of service leaving RA846 a bls resource with 2 EMT's. Now if that person down is critical the RA will transpot. one ff/pm will drive and the other will assist. Now since the engine is a medic engine why not send E46 and RA846. if the patient is critical the 2 medic can jump in the rescue and go to the hospital leaving a paramedic ambulance for the next call. If a paramedic RA trasports a critical paitent the engine is going anyway because one ff will drive and the other will jump in the back of the ambulance to help the 2 medics. Quints will not work for LAFD. The county has them and I have heard guys say the hate them because they are always breaking down due to the weight but lets be honest how often do we see quints pumping on a structure fire or any type of fires. 300 gallon tank with 1 1/2 and 1 3/4 attack lines with 125 and 200 gpm nozzles smh. L.A. county runs 5 light forces. two maybe you could consider task force being station 8 and 82 since they also have a engine there too. 2 of the 5 uses standard trucks station 82 and 170. the other 3 are quints.
  12. The only problem is corruption. you have firefighters making 80-100 grand a year, medics making 100k plus. Firefighters and medics doing dispatch. Then you have the budget situation. My thing is L.A. did have a high crime rate that has dropped a lot. But was it due to more cops or was it due to longer prison sentence? my thing is stop hiring cops unless the crime rate goes back up to like it was in the early 2000's. DWP is the highest paid city department and are always raising our utility cost. CUT DWP AND LAPD and these city officials with ridiculous salaries and the then LAFD will be OKAY. just my theory
  13. this article has been change. I initially read it on Friday or Saturday and it mentioned returning the LAFD staffing back to 3500. That part has since been taking out of the article.
  14. Honestly they're asking for it. I personally don't like this new plan. why not just train SWAT as EMT's like NYPD or have numer of officers rain as EMT's and Paramedics.I know CHP does this but in certain areas. mainly rural areas.
  15. LAPD (Los Angeles Police Dept.) will soon be facing yet another lawsuit for another unjustified officer involved shooting. I'm sure some of us here in L.A. watched the pursuit live on the news. The man was shot by LAPD after he crashed his car trying to run away. It is clear that the man was no threat and unarmed. The chase started with the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Dept. in Cudahay. Sheriffs deputies had abandoned the pursuit due to the speed and the man's driving but was still being tracked by a police helicopter. CHP (California Highway Patrol) join in as the men entered Huntington Park but as well backed off the pursuit. Once he entered the City of Los Angeles the LAPD began to pursuit the suspect. They chased him through South L.A. and into Downtown where the man t-boned another car causing a crash. the man still tried to drive his car but once realized it was disabled got out and tried to run when he was shot multiple times. The mad later died from being shot by LAPD. Now my thing is being a tax payer once again I am going to be the one paying for another one of LAPD's screw ups. I know their job is not easy but clearly the LAPD is in the wrong on this one. If two other departments gave up the chase why did LAPD decide to pursue the man. For the most part the man was obeying traffic laws until he was getting chase which resulted in a accident. I personally feel that cops need to be better trained of when to use their firearms and that the man did not deserve to be murdered by the police as for many people in other officer involved shootings. For those of you who did not see it you can view it on youtube. Please read this, view the video and give me your thoughts on the whole situation.
  16. The suspect was a 51 year old VET of the National Guard with mental illness. He also was allegedly drunk at the time. A source has told me that a officer fired a non-lethal bean bag round at the suspect but did not tell fellow officers. once they heard the bang they thought they were being shot at and returned fire killing the man.
  17. Here is the video for those who have not seen it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDiWrOc4T4s
  18. Did the bid for the new trucks ever go out?
  19. I think the county choose KME to make a bigger body for the squads. They are still going to be mounted on the dodge chassis.
  20. I was wondering if they plan to add the whelen siren to any of the new engines.trucks, and ambulances like they did on all the new battalion and ems captain trucks.
  21. I remember back when all you would hear is bad talk about KME. Now that times are rough it seems like everyone is going with KME and are happy with them. I know San Diego FD had went to KME when they faced budget cut but have since went back to Pierce.
  22. So i'm guessing no more LTI ladders
  23. hp1530 has it right. A light force consist of 6 members total. 4 on the truck (captain 2, a/o, top member or top man, and the tillerman) on the pump "200 series engine" you have ( the engineer and inside member). If there is a task force run the inside member rides on the truck. The pump is identical to the engine (equipment wise) which give the light force the option to act as a truck company or a engine company. When responding as a task force the light force is always a truck company. light fore = truck 1 and engine 201 (can act as a truck or engine company) task force = truck 1 engine 1 engine 201 (light force acts as a truck company only)
  24. Correction Task Force 33 and Engine 46 are in the South L.A. area formally known as South Central. Not Watts. County station 54 is in the City of South Gate. Not Compton. You could be thinking of County station 41 which is in a unincorporated (Willowbrook) area close to Compton.
  25. Rescue 88 has a new dodge
