    They only use them on days when the city expects large crowds of visitors. It makes it easier for them to get on the pier and tight places instead of an engine. They respond alone to medical calls and Americare still provides the hospital transport

    I believe that back in the 90's, the LAFD did borrow a rear mount  ladder truck from the Anaheim FD, to try this concept again (FS 73), but I guess they shelved that idea again.
