Are we talking about San Francisco FD? If so, I saw there were SFFD staff at Ferrara in Louisianna doing final inspections on some new rigs. There was an Engine, Tiller, and a Mobile Air Unit on a Mack Terrapro chassis in the pictures I saw.

QuoteAll,
The Los Angeles County Firefighter, a 21-year fire service veteran and the father of two teen boys, who died Thursday is Firefighter Jonathan Flagler. Firefighter Flagler became trapped while operating interior, and was overcome by fire conditions.A preliminary investigation suggests that the fire was contained to the attic of the building, where Firefighter Flagler was overcome. His fellow Firefighters were able to remove him from the building and attempted to treat him before he was transferred to the hospital. He later died at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
Flagler had been a firefighter for 21 years, beginning his career with the Vernon Fire Department, before moving to LA County Fire (as LA County contracted with Vernon) in October 2020. FF Flagler leaves behind a wife and two teenage sons.

LOL that makes sense. Is this a 24/7 position (I assume just during predicted weather events thought), and what type of person staffs it? (Captain, Chief, etc?)

Wow. This is why I'm all for systems that prevent this, such as a kill switch that shuts the truck off if the thief doesn't engage certain features.

I'm surprised they are only replacing 4 engines and 2 trucks.

How many Pierce tillers have been delivered so far?
-
Looks like the bid hasn't been awarded quite yet, and has been through a lot of amendments and changes so far.. Also at the link below are the detailed specifications for the new tillers.
As for KME's future, I haven't heard anything concrete about future plans other then the press release. Such a large and diverse line of products that KME manufactures simply can't be absorbed by other operations easily or quickly I would think. And that press release was kind of vague about KME's future, at least to me. Time should tell what happens, but KME losing such a large contract such as LACoFD would definitely hurt the bottom line for REV Group.

Rescue 1 being replaced by a Pierce Arrow XT. To my knowledge, this is the first rescue with a walk in body and short cab. Here are the latest photos.

Thanks for the info JWI!
Did Phoenix split this order with Rosenbauer again?
-
From Hughes Fire Equipment Facebook page:
QuoteWe would like to thank the Phoenix Fire Department (AZ) for the recent order of 8 #Pierce Impel Pumpers. Congratulations on the upcoming additions of one of the finest fire fighting apparatuses on the market. We look forward to working with you on these new trucks. Thank you for choosing Pierce Mfg and Hughes Fire Equipment, Inc.Job #37499 -
I'll be visiting Seattle soon.
Does anyone have any advice about fire apparatus related sites or anything else worth visiting?
-
Interesting move after a long time with KME exclusively.
But, REV Group is more or less disbanding KME, so I guess LACoFD is considering their options and Rosenbauer is one of them.
-
Didn't know Phoenix FD was getting E-One rear mounts. Are E-One rear mount aerials new to PFD, or have they had them before (or even rear mount aerials a new thing)?

I can only imagine what it was like for the dispatchers that night.

That's sad. Pasadena had some really nice Seagraves.
-
Great to see Seagraves for Long Beach! Hoping their neighbor to the north, LAFD, will return to Seagrave at some point in the near future.

I wonder if we'll see any in the southwest or west coast.

Do you happen to know why they cancelled the KME's? And do they plan on replacing those orders with Rosenbauer engines?
