  1. I remember reading a long, long time ago that LVFD leases their entire fleet? I know they are almost 100% Pierce, if I'm not mistaken? How long do they keep their rigs in front line service for, and are they due for any fleet upgrades anytime soon?
  2. Worth the read. Read more: http://wiseguyhorseracing.wordpress.com/2013/05/10/next-time-you-think-i-dont-like-cops/
  3. Adam-12 is one of my favorite shows. It was very much like "Emergency", but for the LAPD. Same creators, similar time period. I just watched this powerful, awesome episode for the first time yesterday. Although it is almost 40 years old, the words spoken, most especially at the end of the episode haven't changed one bit. 4. Besides the snorkels, I don't ever have recollection of LAFD using Tower Ladder's in it's modern operations. Their 100% tiller fleet seems to work for them, and in some cases even better then TL's. But I've always wondered, why hasn't LAFD or LACoFD tried using a modern TL in their operations? And, couldn't the "bucket" be useful in certain situations?
  5. Thanks, Cadet. So, basically, it's a race to see who gets there first as far as the transporting ambulance goes? County Fire would be Clark County Fire? How does that whole deal work? Is there anywhere that AMR is the only EMS transporting agency?
  6. The Apparatus section of the FDNY Probie manual. Pretty cool they put this online. http://www.nyc.gov/html/fdny/html/units/training/pdf/proby_manual/03_fdny_apparatus.pdf
  7. Members, We've surpassed 100 members and the count at the time of posting is 103. Glad to see the forum growing again after a couple of years of neglect and then complete data loss and extensive downtime. Thank you for helping prove to me that this is still a viable venture to rebuild. The only thing I ask is that members try and recruit as many new members as possible. However you can reach out to anyone who may be interested in joining, getting them to register and visits often would be greatly appreciated. The more members, the more posts, the more information, and the more life on this forum. Thanks! Seth G. Interim Manager, EMTBravoWest.com EMAIL: seth@emtbravo.com
  8. Absolutely horrific. These brush fires are getting worse and worse over the past few years, and these guys paid the price. RIP.

  11. From AMR's Facebook Page American Medical Response Help support California paramedics and EMTs by stopping a bill that would force EMS caregivers to wear a label on their uniforms that states,”NOT A GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE.” The bill would also require a label on ambulances stating, “THE OPERATOR OF THIS VEHICLE IS NOT A GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE.”This language is derogatory and not acceptable to the men and women who provide lifesaving emergency care to 70% of California. Make your voice heard and tell the California Legislature that this insulting legislation is unacceptable, not only to you, but also to their constituents. Please call the following members of the Assembly Judiciary Committee and tell them to vote NO on SB 556, ANTI-Private EMS legislation that will force private EMT’s and Paramedics to be subjected to unnecessary and stigmatizing labeling requirements.
  12. Is there some sort of backstory to this? Why would a bill like this be brought up?

  16. Guess they didn't like the Caprice's....yet. But right now an agency like this with CHP as well not ordering the Caprice's it sets a precedent for all LE agencies in Southern CA.
