  1. Currently trying to raise $50 to keep this site online....only have three more days until the domain and software license expires. All prompt donations would be greatly appreciated. Click here to donate
  2. Does anyone know what LAFD has on deck for potential apparatus, and what they have on order currently?
  3. Your postings in this thread has to be one of the best ever in the 11 year history of EMTBravo sites. I thoroughly enjoying reading your tale, and am so thankful you chose to share it with us here.
  4. From the LACoFD Website
  5. Per the official press conference at 11:52 PT: LAX World Airport PD Chief Gannon: About 0920hrs Pacific Time an active shooter situation occured. Suspect armed with assault rifle (per PD Chief) inside LAX Terminal 3. Shooter started firing before and through security checkpoint and continued deep into Terminal 3. Officers followed the suspect, who was still actively shooting, engaged and shot the suspect/shooter. Multiple victims shot. Suspect in custody. Unknown fatalities, working with FD to rectify. Only one shooter believed involved in incident. LAFD Chief Featherstone: LAFD treated 7 patients, transported 6 individuals, 100 Fire/EMS personnel committed to an Major Emergency MCI incident, LA Emergency Operations Center operating at Level 1 LAPD Chief Charlie Beck: FBI handling investigation, with LAX PD and LAPD assisting FBI: Agent David Bowdich: Will give very little facts today, no information will be given about victims, today, evidence response and other specialized teams enroute to LAX. City Councilman: Commended the unified command
  6. Official LAFD Release: Here's the official LAFD Release. LAFD has an excellent PIO program as proven in this release.
  7. It sounds ridiculous why the FD can't take over. The politics of it seem a little crazy. How hard is it to let FD provide EMS without all this other nonsense saying they can't because of this or that.
  8. I think Rural/Metro will be pretty secure in the long run, especially with the bankruptcy filing allowing them to get out of some debt. On the EMS side, they hold a lot of good contracts that other providers and cities can't handle. I think the Fire part of their business nowadays in very expensive for them to provide, and that's where they are taking a lot of the hit. I see them getting out of that in the future. I can't see anyone buying them out, either. AMR doesn't seem to be actively pursuing much lately and has dumped some contracts and other things where they don't make a good profit.
  9. What apparatus is forecasted to be purchased in 2014 for LACoFD?
  10. Superstition is certainly an interesting name for a FD!

  12. Are the emergency command vehicles going to be like the compartment body they've tried before, or a cap with a slide out bed like many other departments are starting to use?
  13. HasPhoenix FD has anything new or exciting delivered or ordered lately?
  14. Sounds like a great event...wish I could make it.
  15. Does Seagrave still have a presence out West? I know for a while they were winning LAFD bids, but that was a while ago. And I know departments like Burbank are very loyal to them. But are their Seagraves still being ordered and delivered?
  16. Does Seagrave still have the service facility out there?
  17. With Rural Metro recently filing for bankruptcy, many are saying this will be good for the company. I have, however, heard rumors that they may dump their fire protection contracts, as they are money losing. If this is true, are their certain cities preparing for this, or attempting to start their own FD?
  18. With ALF owning LTI, unless they sell it, I don't think LAFD will be buying the LTI product, even if available for separate sale. I see KME getting this bid, and they build a just as good, if not better, product then LTI.
  19. KME? Why? Seems to be too small and too expensive a venture for KME.....Phenix Truck Bodies has been building them for years. Is that company still around?

  22. Will LAFD be staying with the Dodge/NorthStar (Braun Northwest) RA's in the future? I thought I've seen some newer Ford E-350/Wheeled Coach's in the mix in some recent news footage.
  23. Are we talking the Paramedic squads?
