San Diego East County stuff

1 post in this topic

Lakeside FD has begun ground work on their new fire station's #1, to be relocated from Riverview Avenue to Winter Gardens Blvd.  The location is just south of Royal Road, on the east (southeast) side of road, not far from the old Beers & Cheers tavern (that had more 415's/242's/245's than any other bar in East County, before it closed).  What is interesting is San Miguel/Cal Fire (formerly East County Fire, before that the Crest/Bostonia FD) is making progress on the property (former 4 bedroom house) they acquired on Pepper Drive and First Street to house E7619.  As mentioned before, with the re-locations of both Lakeside and San Miguel, adding El Cajon (Heartland Fire & Rescue) station 8's, that area will be fairly resource rich even with the higher call volume in the respective first-in maps.

Also, El Cajon's T6 is still out of station 9's.  I noticed a large brown trailer in the rear area of station 6's.  It might impede access by the truck, thus why T6 is at 9's.  I am not sure if it is a construction trailer or something for housing the staff for the new AMR medic rig/personnel at 6's.

Last week some major drills were being conducted at Gillespie Airport, El Cajon (KSEE).  Apparatus that was noted there were El Cajon E6, E9; Santee E4 and R5, La Mesa RE12, and Lakeside E1 or may have been E2.  All the apparatus were on tarmac at the administration building of the airport.   Many know the first-in rig you will get at the airport in a standby or crash call, is E9, then likely E4/T4 (Santee).
