  11. The way LA County runs on on the western side of the county has always amazed me. Things have gotten a little better over the last 2 decades with the City of Inglewood and Garden switch over to the County. Due to the unincorporated areas of LA county which mean that section was never annexed by a city leaves broken pieces to cover. Marina Del Rey as well as 51s ( back lot of Universal Studios) fall in the unincorporated section where as 7s and 8s are contracted by the City of West Hollywood. Squad 58 has always been primary paramedic for 38s and 110s. When Inglewood crossed over that made squad 172 or 171 next up to respond into 110. The 90 freeway in Culver City cuts the response time down going into 110s. 58s and 38s are relatively close to each other with the distance of station to station only being about a mile maybe a mile and a half away. Structure fires in 110s very. There is an auto aid agreement with LA City 63s depending on availability. Sometimes you will get a double dispatch from County and City on fires in Marina del Rey. fill free to correct if I’m wrong anyone
  12. It was my understanding that seagrave got a little pricey. LAFD likes Pierce because of the Tak-4 suspension which LAFD helped design.
  13. 88s and 85s are getting new trucks
  14. Any word on LA City Fire replacing the current Squad 21. The rig is a 2005 model and I’m sure it has plenty of miles after the move from station 4 or are they just going to swamp the rigs around since the remaining squads don’t see much action due to now being cross staffed when needed instead on fully manned.
  15. I honestly don’t know why but I guess it’s a California thing most department out here run tiller trucks and some straight sticks.it’s just west coast firefighting I guess.
  16. I don’t think they ever stopped putting class 1 although I have heard that supposedly they no long have a class 1 rating
  17. To sure but That 1 ladder truck maybe truck 9s replacement
  18. New truck 85 and 88
  19. Yes unfortunately the heavy duty task force no longer exist although you can consider station 9 a heavy duty task force. Station 9 is unique being the district is the smallest in the city. However being on Skid Row. They have the largest homeless population in the city as well as in the country. Most of which have drug addiction and mental Heath problems. I was there in the late 90’s and early 2000’s before and after the upgrade. We would run 30 plus calls in a 24 hour shit with a traditional task force ( light force 9, engine 9, rescue 9 and rescue 809 ). In 2000 or 2001 somewhere around there. Engine 209 was fully staffed with 4 members, truck 9 with 5 and split into separate companies. Rescue 809 was upgraded to a paramedic rescue ( Rescue 209 ). Since those days station 9 has been upgraded again due to call volume. 9’s now runs Engine 9, Engine 209, Truck 9, Rescue 9, Rescue 209, Rescue 809, Rescue 900, and FR 9 ( fast response ). The fast response unit is ALS but doesn’t run the whole 24 hour shift. I’m not sure if Rescue 900 runs the whole 24 hours either. Welp there you have it. A little insight on station 9 lol. Also at one time in the 60’s or 70’s station 9 had a heavy utility truck ( heavy rescue ) and a salvage unit ( squad ).
  20. This has been long coming way back from the early 2000’s when the LAFD test out the FDNY style turnout gear and helmets.
  21. All the truck companies ( lightforce) carry jump bags which we call rescue air cushions. ( LA City Fire )
  22. These are the lights I was referring too. The new squads and some other rigs also have red and blue and not red and green
  23. Fire 6 was fitted with a water tank after all the new helicopters were delivered. Fire 6 use to be Fire 5 ( bell 206b jetRanger ) LAFD had 2 bell 206 A LongRanger and B choppers Fire 5 and 6 which is now 6 and 7. Not use if they still have Fire 7 LongRanger.
  24. What’s with the switch to red and blue emergency lights
  25. Smh another department bites the dust but I guess the city of Vernon will be better served than Hermosa beach
