  1. Just saw T6 roll by a little while ago, and it looks like the same red code lights near headlamps, not the same clear LED lenses I saw on another truck in back of HTF last week.
  2. Anyone know when HFR's T6 (El Cajon) is going to go back in service? It has been down a longtime, a bit surprising as it is not a real old rig (though not super new either, vintage 2005). They had issues with it way back with the All-Steer feature which I believe they had disabled. As I predicted long ago, you use a truck as much as T6 was being run on medicals, and you wear it out before its time. I am glad they now run Squad-6 to keep the wear-and-tear down on T6.
  3. Thought I saw T6 at HTF the other day, in the back of 9's. If it was actually T6 and I was not looking at perhaps T11, it looked to me like T6 might be sporting new front LED code lights next to the grill. I'll try to get a closer look and confirm, one day soon.
  4. Hi friends, I was getting off the I-8 @ 2nd Street, El Cajon yesterday and in the cross intersection travelling NB on 2nd Street was a new rig, looked like Ford F-550 chassis, I think it was a two-door cab for personnel of 2, but I could be wrong. I could not catch the side decals for which agency, it has chevron markings on the rear. It said "Ground Support" either on side or rear. What was really interesting was it had a smaller crane on it. I am not sure if it is a mechanic's/shops support vehicle, or some kind of rescue rig with a lower weight lifting crane. Very interesting. I do not think it was a mechanic's rig, but do not know why they call it "Ground Support." My guess is it is part of the San Diego County Fire Authority and/or Cal Fire. Any clues? Thanks. ~Rescue51
  5. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITTYmGTE5C8 Per further updates, 2-4 units w/heavy damage, 12 units in total for tenant displacement. ~Rescue51
  6. That's a big assignment, I did not hear the 2nd alarm call out. Think they got knock down and 4 (+/-) units from condos/apartments involved. Off of Pulse Point: Residential Fire 10850 JAMACHA BLVD, STE M3, SPRING VALLEY, CA 4601 4602 AMR255 B3 B6 E11 E13 E14 E206 E21 E22 E6 T15 T11 SNDT10 SDFT36 LA46 MH8 MH9 OE410 REDX REHAB1 SNDB4 SNDE32 TIM1 TIM2 8:48 AM Today
  7. And that is one of the new Pierce pumpers too! I tell you, crash test dummies posing as humans on motorcycles, scooters, cars, etc.. Why would you pass on right, an emergency vehicle that likely had the code lights activated, and a right turn signal. Just asking for fatal results, this time the motorcyclist survived, amazingly! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ycr-f0nHn2k
  8. What a bad crash. Glad the FF's got out though one was in critical. Not sure what the law is in Texas about fire rigs rolling code and encountering a steady red, if in fact the lady pulling trailer had a green light. ~Rescue51 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neKDBADlFmA
  9. San Miguel sent some FF's up to Sacramento to be briefed on their new OES engine (HME). I assume this replaces the one they currently run out of 16's ????]. Designation is SMGOES410. If this does go to 16's, they will have two new pumpers, the front line new Pierce and the OES rig. The side of the OES rig says "urban search & rescue". Does the rig have USAR equipment or is it designated that way for manpower to join a regular USAR rig/task force?
  10. I finally figured out the older OES pumper that has been at San Miguel Fs16, is (or was) OES307. Wonder if 307 stays, and OES410 will be going to another San Miguel station. I doubt it, but just wondering why they have OES410 and the new one is not designated OES307.
  11. Not exactly sure when the BC took delivery of this rig, but I believe it is fairly recent. Photo credit to San Miguel Fire-Rescue's Facebook page. Nice to see San Miguel going through the upgrades. Speaking of which, I've noticed the older E-One "rescue" (which was long back R15, R22, then I believe R23 used as a light & air) and a bit newer Ferrara rescue (think they are calling it Rescue 46), which was originally delivered to East County Fire to Crest station 18's serving as R18, well both rigs are parked at shops near 15's and collecting lots of dust. I assume the older E-One is going away but any word on if the Ferrara is being sold/retired, or any new dedicated technical rescue is underway after they get a new truck?
  12. I was informed from Coronado FD that the new Pierce T37 is in fact a quint.
  13. Saw in the South Coast Fire Equipment's Facebook page, they are tooling-up the new Pierce truck for Coronado FD (T37). There was not much description/spec on that, I am wondering is that a quint like Coronado's current T37, or straight ladder truck? Thanks.
  14. 'diamond682' thanks for the information and some clarification here on my part: An engineer on T6 told me years ago they had disabled the All-Steer on the truck due to some kind of malfunction and a bit a minor mishap/accident due to it. Perhaps they did some testing and re-activated it, which I was not aware of. I agree that all FF's including those assigned to Santee's T4, have no problem providing assistance to surrounding agencies, my reference was mainly to the higher-ups in city council or budget committee, however they do that money stuff in that department. Once again, good Squad-6 is running many of the calls the truck would be on when it goes back in service. More agencies are doing the same thing so they don't burnout their truck too fast.
  15. Here's an example of East County (San Diego) being a bit truck weak: Tonight there was a commercial structure response in Alpine, Santee FD's Truck-4 responded, though not sure if cancelled prior to arrival. That is a long haul for T4. In the old days it would have been Lakeside's E3S. I saw E202S rolled with E2 on a structure response the other day.
  16. Certainly "Codethree". If I were Santee (T4 with the newer Pierce TDA), I'd be a bit upset since they are rolling into El Cajon so much for structures and rescues.
  17. That is really cool, a medic-squad. Looks like it is 4x4 too. Even looks like a mini light tower on top of that. Those two guys that walk right in front of the rig rolling code, what morons:
  18. Thanks, I just did not see why a "repair" rig needed a 4-door cab truck, thus why I was thinking 'rescue'. Take care...
  19. Today saw a white Cal Fire Dodge Ram (4 door cab) with what appeared to be utility type body, had the code lights on-top. Said it was unit R-3XXX. I thought it might have been R-3330 but was from a distance so did not clearly see the numbers, it seemed 4 numerical digits after the "R". Rig was not far from Cal Fire's Monte Vista station (Rancho San Diego). Anyone know where that might be assigned?
  20. I have heard two (2) USAR task forces are in Ridgecrest. I believe the number of task forces was higher earlier in the weekend but for now I believe Kern County for sure, has their USAR rig deployed and also LAFD USAR 88 and Tender 88 are in Ridgecrest, helping do structural assessments and in addition, apparently responding to calls. I am sure there may be other mutual aid strike teams in the area, in addition to California OES rigs too, in area.
  21. That looks like one heck of a confined space rescue--two aerial ladders overhead. ~Rescue 51 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XevCyDDn_eA
  22. In California it seems I see more fire rigs running code with LED's, but they have no front continuous red (steady) and in rear, some departments no longer have any flashing ambers. Santee FD is one of them, no directional amber stick either. I thought California law required both the front steady red, and rearward flashing ambers. Anyone have some insight into this. Thank you.
  23. Thanks 'lkseng3'. I knew 16's (San Miguel) was a busy station, and was sorta thinking 16's and 22's might have been on par. Was not aware 14's is busier than 22's. If I recall (I may be wrong in memory) that 22's ran the pumper and rescue (E-One) at one time years back, though perhaps it was a cross-staffing assignment. I believe 22's got busy because they have that big assisted care facility, besides growth, and covering some calls near Jamul when their rigs are busy (Cal Fire? +/- San Diego County Fire Authority?). I thought I read somewhere in a forum if not here, that it looked like the T15 old Pierce quint, was gonna get replaced with a new Pierce. I'll ask around or check out their minutes for the board meetings of recent, to see if anything has developed. T15 has been rolling on lots of calls lately (mostly EMS as you know), lots of halfway houses in their coverage, and more (urgent cares on Avocado, Kaiser on Avocado) and so they are running another truck into the ground on these medical aids. I hope with the new truck they consider a squad like El Cajon (Fs6) smartly did. Have you heard when the T6 is gonna get returned to service after repairs?
  24. Two engines are featured, not sure on assignments to which Fs. San Miguel also has a truck on order, not sure what stage it is at on the build. Photo credit goes to Pierce's Flickr page.
  25. This was a tweet by San Diego Fire-Rescue: ✔ @SDFD "Ten new engines were unveiled Monday morning at our Logistics facility. Tremendous effort on the part of many at SDFD to standardize the fleet & make these purchases. Thanks to mayor and council for their continued support of public safety in San Diego." My understanding is two of the 10 new rigs will be Type-3 brush engines. ~Rescue51
