  1. Thanks. That is not good. But I think for all those that trash all the other competitors to Pierce, and promote Pierce and the absolute best and nothing compares, well this my be the humbling needed. Many of the competitors to Pierce are very good products/rigs.
  2. The older KME heavy rescue is still running as Rescue #2, in place of USAR #2. This KME once ran out of Fs#4's. Anyone know what happened to USAR#2, the newer Pierce?
  3. lkseng3--do you know if any plans are in place for Lakeside FD to acquire a quint/ladder rig? I know 2's is still running the older KME telesquirt, but was not sure if they plan on updates/additions. This time of crisis might not be a good time to be thinking ahead like that, I am afraid budgets are gonna get way tightened up. Take care and thanks for the good reports in this forum.
  4. Great post, nice looking rig, and thank you to lkseng3. Question, what is going to happen to the current WT you have had there which I think was on loan from the San Diego County Fire Authority? Since I believe you are in Lakeside FD and have some good insights, will Lakeside FD get a truck, quint or squirt anytime soon to replace E202S (the older KME)???
  5. As mentioned earlier, I noticed L&A-46 (older E-One that ran as a rescue box for many years) at Fs15's getting a nice wash. Lately, I've noticed L&A-46 responding to t/c's with extrication. Is L&A-46 now also being used as a rescue?
  6. Sighting on Monday in Rancho San Diego (strip mall @ Avocado/SR94) of this San Diego County/Cal Fire Water Rescue #20. I never saw this around before. Station #20 is Monte Vista's HQ on Jamacha Road. There were 4 FF's with this rig, getting their likely dinner supplies at Smart & Final.
  7. The funding/budget for these new purchases could dry up pretty fast in this current COVID-19 climate/trend. We'll see.
  8. Not the same rig but perhaps similar in some of the equipment. Sort of a cool video of the Orange County Fire Authority USAR support rig (which in of itself, seems to have lots of gear on it for sure). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JS2BIIleRhE
  9. Nice looking rig! Santee is just taking delivery too of a Freightliner Type-3. Almost seems the Freightliner could be competing equally now to the Navistars.
  10. Rev Group finalized their purchase of Spartan ER (which I understand bought Smeal last year). This means under their umbrella, Rev Group now owns E-One, KME, Ferrara, and now Spartan/Smeal. I suppose Pierce must be feeling the heat of competition, since Rev Group is really making an impact in the fire rig manufacturing business. I believe in healthy competition, however I also do not like monopolies, which in some respects Rev Group may be trending towards. Though Rev Group may be adding longevity to the independent companies listed above. I imagine Seagrave and Sutphen must be finding this consolidation lately, a bit concerning. Long live American LaFrance. ~Rescue51
  11. The San Miguel Fire District has shared this photo in their Facebook account, and have said they soon are taking delivery of the new Pierce Truck 15. They plan an open house too. Nice looking rig. I was hoping they would go for a tiller, but I believe the tillers are more $$$$. I cannot tell if this new truck has a tank/pump, but believe it does sport tank/pump and MAY be a quint similar to the current T15 in operation. Seems great things are happening at San Miguel Fire-Rescue since they unlinked themselves from Cal Fire. I've seen lots of good progress and leadership. I believe at one time earlier they made an offer to Lakeside Fire to come under the umbrella with them, but Lakeside declined. If El Cajon, La Mesa & Lemon Grove could merge under Heartland Fire-Rescue, I would not be surprised to see this happen down the road. Lakeside + Alpine + Barona + Viejas FD would make more sense.
  12. I noticed today that Lakeside FD's Engine 26 is one of the newer Smeal/Spartan rigs, not the former KME they were running. Does anyone know if this is a new rig for Fs26, or a hand-down from one of the other stations that had the Smeal rig they were running?

  14. Does anyone know what is going on with the newer Pierce USAR 2 for San Diego Fire-Rescue? I've noticed lately USAR 41 is responding out of Fs2's, and just recently they were using the older KME heavy rescue (once at 4's but now running at 2's) for rescue responses. Thanks in advance? ~Rescue51
  15. I've noted it seems T6 has not been responding for a few weeks to calls. Does anyone know if it is maintenance or some other new problem. I hate to say it, but the Pierce T6 seems like it is almost down more than in-service. They just got the truck back from the T/C is was involved in. This issue should support my proposition to stop using trucks on all the medical aids (and out of Fs6's, they run many). It is good Squad-6 is in that house now and handling many of the calls. Santee T4 is really running much these days covering El Cajon, Crest, and more. At one time in the past it seemed East County was fairly truck/quint/teleboom rich, not to mention fairly "rescue" rich too. Those all have thinned out over the years.
  16. This was today. I have not read any details on it. I think it may have been an auto wrecking / storage kinda of place. Must have been many cars on fire. That is many resources listed below from Pulse Point, @ 15:15 hours today ~Rescue51 Vehicle Fire 6481 DATSUN ST, SAN DIEGO, CA (PRIVATE BUISINESS) AM415 AMBLS401 AOPNOT B57 B6 CPTR1 CVB52 CVE52 CVE54 CVE57 CVE59 DMS E29 E30 E43 E6 Fm28 Hzm1 Hzm2 HZNOT IBE39 Inv67 Inv69 INVK9 LA1 LOGS LOGS1 M1 M15 MASTNOT MCWT61 MS2 MVE38 MVT38 NCWT34 PIO SC1 SCNOT T29 U81 UAS WT19 WT28 XR1 XRNOT
  17. Wonder if Pierce will get those? Also wonder why SDFR does not have any ladder platforms/towers? It is a bit unusual.
  18. Well done! ~Rescue51 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32C0UIoBvCs
  19. On the older E-One, known before as Rescue 15, then Rescue 22, then Rescue 23, and now Light & Air 46, I typed an error above, it is not a walk-in but a walk-around rescue.
  20. Noticed at San Miguel Fire-Rescue shops (next to Fs15's) a new Type-3 (brush) rig: A Freightliner, black top over red, Alpine B17. Very nice looking rig! I presume shops is outrigging and prepping the rig to go into service at Alpine Fs17. Side note, noticed the crew over at 15's washing to old Rescue 23 (which was once Rescue 22, and Rescue 15)...the older E-One walk-thru. I thought I heard it is only used as a light & air unit these days. But it looks sharp and getting a nice cleaning, so not sure what the plans are. I say start using that rig out of Fs15's because they are running the T15 into the ground on medical aids (though they too have a new truck they are either spec'ing, in bid process, or already ordered, I am not sure).
  21. So from news accounts I saw, I guess this was a high-speed Dodge Ram that went over the side, hit a rock, then went a ways down, and started on fire. One confirmed fatality thus far. I have not seen this many resources on a scene in a while, from various agencies, in Heartland Fire-Rescue's area. Chula Vista E56 in Heartland's area? 22. Thanks 'scnradio'...that makes perfect sense. I heard a wit said there were 2 passengers in truck prior to going over-the-side. I suspect those were S&R (USAR) dogs looking for the 2nd victim due to possible ejection. I understand they never found any 2nd person. Though I still do not understand why Chula Vista Engine 56 would have been dispatched. That was one strange incident yesterday.
