  1. Yes indeed, it is running assignments now.
  2. Nice looking engine! I wonder what has been behind the trend here in Southern California of more black over red fire rigs?
  3. Photo of rear of Squad 6 from San Diego Union-Tribune. Photo of front of unit, now sure where the proper attribution for photo goes. ~Rescue 51
  4. Sounds like the new County of San Diego Fire Authority--Indian givers.
  5. Anyone know what has happened to Heartland Fire & Rescue, El Cajon FS#8, Brush-8????
  6. I've noticed lately, on many T/C related rescues, two trucks are assigned, often El Cajon T6 and Santee T4, or sometimes. Sometimes paired is either La Mesa's T6 or Rescue-Engine 12. Is this due to the need of additional rescue tools, or an issue with needed manpower? Thanks. ~Rescue51
  7. Meant to say 'typos' not "types".
  8. Thanks for the good reporting '619Emergencys". Santee and Lakeside have been providing their medics 4, 5, 2 and 3's quite a bit into El Cajon lately. Does Lakeside FS 1 have a medic rig? I know they once did, but I believe that unit got transferred to 2's when the new station was built.
  9. The original article linked-to (East County Magazine) had some types, and one of them I suspect, is the author meant to say Mercy Ambulance (same company serving Alpine as M17, among others). Yes, some serious T/C's up there, when they do happen, they can be bad, and many involve motorcycle. The water tender is at the Cuyamaca station (FS 57's), and it sounds like the county is taking that away. Cal Fire is now right next door to the old 57's (Engineer's Road), I do not know what resources they have there. The problem in Julian-Cuyamaca is the volunteer force is getting smaller, and getting them to respond quickly, at least out of 57's, is harder. Recall the old days up there when the San Diego County Sheriff's Department provided the ambulances and EMT's? Always good when the ambulance with the 2 EMT's would arrive with a combative 5150, since those two on the ambulance, I believe, were also sheriff's deputies.
  10. SDFR has the one Spartan TDA (T1). Not sure how much longer that will be front-line.
  11. Sadly, seeing a San Diego firefighter lost his life on the "Thomas Fire". Cal Fire issued the statement so I assume it may have been one of their FF's. No further details. RIP! ☹
  12. Here is the November vote of no confidence in the chief up there (see .PDF file here) Vote-of-NO-Confidence-11-14-2017c.pdf
  13. Cool! Innovative. Might be a good product extension to an urban interface type 4x4 raised rig. More information here: https://www.ferrarafire.com/2017/12/27/ferrara-builds-compact-streamlined-pumpers-san-francisco-fire-department/ ~Rescue51
  14. I agree on TDA's. Santee's (T4) new Pierce is beautiful.
  15. Also noticed the red LED's in front bumper...that is not common.
  16. Another question on aerials, why are mid-mounts rarely seen around here but more popular in the East Coast?? Thanks in advance. ~Rescue51
  17. The old former Battalion 6, a Ford pick-up, maybe from 8 years ago or less, is in "shops" and seems to be back at FS#9's. Not sure what they are planning or using that for. Maybe another squad in system or even patrol????

  19. It would appear the go-ahead is in progress with bids being accepted to build FS#19, at 735 E. Bradley Avenue. Looks like plot location for project is south side of E. Bradley, just west of North Mollison. This new location is much more useful given the newer Lakeside FD's FS#1, compared to the previous proposed location on Pepper Drive and I believe North 1st. When I look at the 735 E. Bradley Avenue address, Google Maps shows a 7-Eleven and liquor store/market. 20. Not good to start service with an 'expensive' truck, only to have suspension issues.

  22. Was watching KGTV-10 news today with the volume muted and saw the coverage on a new opening of National City FD's Station 33, and Squad 33. Seems like the "squad" is getting more popular, and I love it for rapid response and to reduce the wear & tear on the trucks and pumpers. Was in LACoFD coverage area last night and saw a bunch of their squads rolling with I believe McCormick boxes. Here is a pic of the new NCF Squad 33, the inexpensive-to-build (comparatively) Station 33. Great looking rig! Other stuff going on in that back bed. Source for these pics is: http://firestation33.nationalcityprojects.com/ Be interesting to know if the squad is gonna carrying any rescue equipment. ~Rescue51

  24. Sorry, meant to post as LODD, not LADD. Not enough sleep last night.
