  1. Guessing it's this. https://fire.lacounty.gov/usar-urru-teams-use-new-sonar-technology-during-recent-search/ ETA: Wow, that's dark. Tried to change it.
  2. I learned of this via Twitter, and last check, 21 injuries, but no deaths at that point. Interesting resource list. Some of those designators I don't recognize. Are battalions 33, 53, and 57 from FFD?
  3. Or "F2604". Can't really tell. Both numbers are written in small, shop number-sized font. Anyone know this unit? LACoFD wiki is of no help. Great video. Some amazing, unusual apparatus.
  4. I like that old unit.
  5. I know RA's, but what's an RM? Everything is listed as "Rescue" on LAFD's wikipedia entry.
  6. El Cajon, Lemon Grove and La Mesa. https://www.heartlandfire.org/159/Fire-Station-Locations-Jurisdiction
  7. Are the two Brush Engines replacing current ones, or are they being added?
  8. I remember I went to thi a time or two when it ended at Jack Murphy Stadium, and the main event was a huge apparatus muster. I thought I heard that it was revised so that it ended in North County somewhere, but now when I Googleskim for it, it only shows a Burn Run 5K. Anybody have any association with this? I wish the apparatus parade would come back.
  9. https://mcfpdnv.org/about-mcfpd/equipment/ Just curious, does E2853 not have any lights on top? This seems kind of odd/illegal.
  10. I like Crystal's WT quite a bit. I like the lighting. Would love to see the paint restored, as well.
  11. I hadn't been to that forum in a while, but they had a good variety of info and pics, etc. Didn't realize they were having problems. anybody have experience over there?
  12. I never lived right in PHX, but my town went from Rural Metro to PFD coverage fairly recently. RH would seem to be rehab. I missed CCU. (I love the PFD live dispatch page, but it would be nice if they explained the apparatus codes [they do list FD's]).
  13. I never knew anything changed re: the California Red, but I will say that some agencies seem to put one on just to put one on. Like, "OK, we're following the rules now". When I was last in Sacramento a few years ago, it was that way on their medics (at least how I saw it). Took a few moments to find the California Red, but it was tucked in the main light bar. I wonder if I'll ever live to see CHiPs cease their pissiness about blue lights.
  14. So, around 2:45pm today, I am riding MTS #11 turning onto University from Park, and I see an ambulance from Coudersport EMS in the northern central part of PA (Twin Tiers, near the NY border). White with purple bottom half, IIRC. Is there an EMS conference going on here in SD, CA? Odd find, but pretty neat since I used to live in PA (out west, near Pittsburgh, but still).
  15. About 5 mins ago, I heard outside my condo a piece of apparatus with an oddly deep-sounding horn. Nothing out of the ordinary with the siren. Anybody have any clue if Stn. 5 has something new? Or if it might have been an ambulance? Just curious. Gives me something to look out for on the streets of San Diego.
  16. For the first time, I saw an OES engine on a run while transiting down Adams on Wedenesday afternoon(or maybe Park. I forget). What are these apparatus for? Doesn't this overlap CAL Fire? Nice engines. Just a different sight.

  18. https://fox5sandiego.com/2018/07/02/mayor-names-new-san-diego-fire-chief/ SAN DIEGO – Mayor Kevin Faulconer Monday appointed Colin Stowell as chief of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. Stowell spent several decades in the department as a captain, battalion chief, deputy chief and assistant chief before leaving in 2016 to lead Heartland Fire & Rescue.
  19. https://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/SDFD-Fire-Chief-Leaving-Department-to-Take-Same-Roll-with-OCFA-476221723.html?_osource=taboola-recirc Seems like yesterday he became our chief.
  20. "Arizona"? That's vague (though I've heard of "Central Arizona Fire/Medical" or some suuch, which is a merging of departments somewhere around Prescott, IIRC.) Where is this exactly? ETA: Oops. Indeed, Sun Lakes and North County have merged.
  21. That was a great video! Maybe just me, but it looks weird to me to have the only main rotator light be amber. They had some interesting apparatus back then, though. I was born in '75. It'd be interesting timewarping back to that year and being my actual age now.
  22. In a dramatic show of just how fractured the relationship is between the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department and the San Diego Lifeguard Association, 76 of 102 permanent lifeguards voted to form their own department called the “Marine Safety Department,” and leave the Fire-Rescue Department. https://ivn.us/2017/12/06/san-diego-lifeguards-vote-to-leave-fire-rescue-department/ What would this do regarding, say, the Toyota arrangement? And overall, is it better for a lifeguard service to be attached to a fair department or does it depend? Anybody follow this situation closely?
  23. Love those light bars! Would like to see them lit up. Not sure about the pinwheels. They don't seem too effective, at least on YouTube.
  24. Time to update my Tatra avatar. Bummed to hear those didn't work out in the end.
  25. AMR Fire/Medical even?
