  1. To bad it's a Quint!
  2. Last time i saw them, they had a Pierce maybe a 2010?
  3. Spoke with KME in San Diego and they are waiting for the bids to open. I don't believe the bids are open as of yet.
  4. Maybe LAX in the future? Waterguy what do you think?
  5. No, County will not self dispatch. If city or county see's a header and it's near the line they will respond to i think 1 mile over the line. County has auto aid with Culver city, Beverly Hills, Orange County and LAFD. LaCo has four stations with in Orange county. ST 191, 192, 193 and 194. On a brush response city will send one copter with county and county will send one copter with city. For example, On the 118 FWY in west San Fernando vally with a brush dispatch you will receive LaCo, LAFD and Ventura Co fire. Now on the east side of the 118 you will receive LAFD, LaCo and ANF. (Angeles National Forest). County also has auto aid with Pasadena, Glendale and San Marino.
  6. Why does everyone attack how much a F/F makes. Who cares! There is nothing wrong with a F/F making 80-100K a year. As for Tillered Quints.. they are a joke. Over weight break down alot so on and so on. A light force is ideal and LAFD does run ST9 with a fully manned engine and truck. As they do not have a 200 series. Also during high fire danger LAFD will mann the 200 and run it.
  7. Waterguy, Any word on the new ARFF'S for LAX?
  8. Yes, A county light force is like La city. A Truck and two car. Or a Quint and two car.
  9. Waterguy. Good to hear no quints.
  10. OOPS! Quints again. Any one else have info on this.
  11. Just spoke to a Capt friend and he stated LAFD is thinking about Q
  12. I heard that from Capt 1 at FS89. Also from many of my buddies on the dept. There is also talk of moving HR56 to 82's because they are right of the fwy and the station has lots of room. Now, will any of this take place? Also because 89's is a USAR station. That plan was also before LAco Fire bought there own HR. Now they work together.
  13. Tragedy has struck the Fire Fighting family once again. A Hot shot crew of 19 wildland fire fighters lost their lives today batteling a wild fire in Yarnell AR. Being an ex USFS Fire fighter my heart and prayers are with the familys and dept members.
  14. There is talk of moving HR56 to 89's. As stated above the other HR is a reserve only stationed at 89's.
  15. Let us not forget 9/11/01. Let us not forget the 343 Fire Fighters who gave the ultiment sacrafice on this tragic day.At 1pm sirens across the nation will sound for our Brothers. Please.. Never Forget!
  16. GilbertFire... Thank you! Do you have any idea why thet stoped using tillers?
  17. Is Phoenix using Tower Ladder only? Are the remaining tillers in reserve? Thanks.
  18. All of the orders for new RA's will be Dodge.
  19. Can anyone tell me the reason why CCFD buys Quantum's and then Ferrara's for the volly's? Thanks.
  20. I have seen the Engine out front with the Light force following. Out of station responses. I think the rule of the truck leading is'nt as strong as it once was. Like parking in the app bay. First in the pump (200) than the engine. Now if the light force is out the engine will park all the way in the rear. Pump when it returns will park up front. And the rotation continues. Of course this is in older stations with out drive through bays.
  21. E209 OOS!
  22. Yes the 200 series is fully equip. If the Truck co goes out of servies than they switch man power to the 200 and run as an engine co. Unless you are station 9 Downtown Skid row. Truck 9 is fully manned and runs alone with no 200 series. E 9 runs fully staffed as well.
  23. Thank you for posting you're memories. Great reading!
  24. Seagrave7, I do not at this time. If they have a 1996 then i would say a good chance. I was told last night that the shops are going to finnish the new Quints first. I was also told that foam 73 will receive old foam 10's KME. Not sure when this will take place.
  25. The shops are down on machanics so things are moving slow. They are trying to keep the new engine's out of the weather so they have them at many locations including old ST 181. Also the heads to be at the shops did not order new equipment for the engines so they sat and sat. ST 111 was suppose to receive there new engine last month but... that never happened. They are 9th or so on the list of receiving.
