FireGuy, I agree that 70 is a odd number. My contacts are true as i know exactly how many tillers LAFD has. I believe the confusion is 10 year contract with 7 trucks a year. Nope... First order 7, after that ???? for 10 year add on. Sorry for any confusion on my behalf.

Yes. Thats what a Pierce rep told my buddie. 10 years 70. I believe these are the first Pierce tillers to see service with the LAFD.

LAFD signed a 10 year contract with Pierce for 70 Pierce XT Tillers. A good friend is at Pierce now doing a accetence testing on his new rig. KME has the contract with the Eng until 2016.

Monterey Park has been given the option to purshase an LaCo new KME for less cash. Yes, it will replace the OOS engine. Since the county shops does all the PM and repairs on MP rigs. Alhambra is using a County Seagrave tiller until there replacement arrives.

Speaking to a few engineers who are assinged new KME's. They are not pleased at all. Ride is rough and has put guys on leave for back injuries. He said it's worse than the first oder. E77 and E89 have theirs.

My understanding is, Pierce and LAFD designed the Tak 4 per LAFD specs. And it became a succes with other dept's as well. Aren't theses the first Pierce Trucks LAFD has ever ordered? I remember Crown, Seagrave, Pirsch, Kenworth in the early'er days.

A friend of mine is doing the final inspection on his new Pierce. While he was at the plant he asked about LAFD. Yes Pierce also put in a bid. Waiting for the final yes or no.

Any one know if LAFD has ordered new CFR rigs for LAX? Since the Colets where canceled.

Engine5161, I saw a picture of a Colet in LAFD markings. Colet does not have a good reputation with so many other depts selling there's.I wonder what the issue is with Oshkosh? Thanks for the info!

OES also has type 1 engine companys with USAR equipment.

joeyk48, Do you know the tank size and pump size? County is a true quint and even they dont run them as a quint with the exception of a few stations that run a quint only. Good looking tiller and a real Q siren.
