Fire districts are taking hits due to tax valuations and are looking to merge statewide Copper Canyon (Montezuma Rimrock and Camp Verde) Golder Ranch (Absorbed Mountain Vista fire) Central Arizona Fire and Medical(Central Yavapai and Chino Hills) some are JPA (Fire Authority ) some are consolidations (new Board, new employer) some are absorption of one over the other (new Employer for old district) Yuma Rural Metro floated a fire district some years ago but because the city bisects the area of county, you would have to form 2 districts - city line extends to Federal land in the south county. 21. For those old enough to remember, many years ago they called them "city service Ladders" all the ground ladders and no aerial. The job is a littler different now, but the concept as has been said is to save wear and tear on a million dollar piece of equipment. Historically, depts that could not afford a 100ft stick bought them or city shops refurbished a older piece. Another term is a QUAD. Hose, Pump, water , ladders
  22. Station 3 is Scheduled to be demo'ed sometime in OCT. Does anyone know where ther companies will be re-located?
  23. Ladder tenders were a Phoenix area idea and in some cases are not engines but "city service ladder trucks" all the tools of a ladder but not Aerial. They have taken several iterations due to the fact some departments want them as available as possible so as not to have to go back to the house to pick up the truck. Alot of them are medium duty trucks with all the toys a ladder truck carries. With ladder trucks running 1 million plus, depts want all the life they can get out of them. Also with all the medical runs, its hard to justify leaving a crew in the house when calls are backing up. To be fair, in some cases a ladder truck is added to the assignment if the ladder tender is out in the field, alldepends on the current SOG for deployment.
