Ive heard that the KME contract has expired. What is the timetable for the new bid process?
-
Any news on the new rigs?
-
now that the first truck is in So Cal, where is it/ the other pierce trucks going to be assigned? Trickle down of older trucks?
-
When will it arrive at the shops?
-
Water guy, Is there a replacement list for the trucks yet? I've heard they'll be arriving in a month or so?
-
How many more years is the KME contract?
-
Now that it's October, the new pierce tillers should be a month or 2 away from delivery. Any news on the new rigs being built and where they will be going? Thanks!
-
Who manufactures SFFD's tillers? How do they like them?
-
How far before the delivery is the assignment list made? Is the list available now?
-
Any new info on these rigs? Thanks!

fireag...Here is what Pierce has on their web site
Seven Pierce Aerial Tiller Apparatus Purchased By Los Angeles City Fire DepartmentNovember 18, 2014APPLETON, Wis. (November 18, 2014) – Pierce Manufacturing Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK) company, has sold seven Pierce® Arrow XT™ 100-foot heavy-duty aerial tiller apparatus to the Los Angeles City Fire Department (LAFD) in California. These seven apparatus comprise the initial installment of an ongoing 10-year “tag on” contract.
Thanks JNP! However, I was wondering about photographs of the new trucks during construction. Like how Braun Northwest does with their rescues as they build them.

is there anywhere we can see how the build progress is coming along with the trucks? does Pierce have a "in production" somewhere online?
-
Has there been a list developed for which companies will be getting the new pierce trucks? I know it's still 9 months away but it's worth a shot.
-
I've heard that both HR 56 and UR88 are getting new rigs. How far are they along in the process?
-
Any new specs on these new trucks? Independent front suspension? Onan vs. PTO generator? New tools/equipment? Different compartment layouts?
-
Waterguy, it's my understanding that some of the trucks from FY 11-12 and 12-13 weren't built yet from Am. LaFrance. Will any of the trucks from those orders be carried over to pierce's new contract?
-
I work for city and we love the tak 4. But, in my discussion with some mobile mechanics (and waterguy can correct me if im wrong) there is less maintenance with a leaf spring design than any independent front suspension. Hopefully the new trucks will have the tak 4. i know the tiller ride is awesome with the tak 4 as well. If LAFD spec'd an independent front suspension, KME would not have won the bid for the engines. LAFD has a top to bottom custom spec for every apparatus, if they cant meet the spec, they're out. I'd like to see the spec, regardless of the cab or suspension choice, Pierce will be an improvement over Am. Lafrance.

I was referring to a conversation on another thread on this website. LAFD is going with a 100" wide body to accommodate a beefier motor and a heavy duty ladder as opposed to the medium duty ladder. Plus, LA city has gotten away from the independent front suspensions as the new engines are all straight axle with leaf springs. It all depends on what the Heavy apparatus spec. maker put in the spec. I would hope function would trump appearance. I'm sure waterguy has all the inside info. The rest of us are merely speculating.

Will they be mounted on Aarow XT Cabs?
judging from the pierce website, the only cabs offered in 100" widths are the Velocity and Impel models.

Any official news on the trucks?
-
HAve all of the paramedic rescues been assigned a dodge? If not approximately how many are left?
-
Any new truck news? Who won the bid? Do the shops already know where the trucks will be assigned?

saw it at the shops the other day. No radios or station numbers. big rig. looks well designed minus how high the aerial sits when bedded. But im sure thats a pierce problem.
