  1. Glad to see big cities go back to mechanical sirens! FDNY also has gone to the EQ2b siren... Even though it's not a true mechanical siren, it definitely sounds like a real fire truck. On a side note, what electronic siren does LAFD use?
  2. Saw this on KME's FB page today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUoX3XplpUc. I believe they will be pulling the new trailers from EVI http://www.evi-fl.com/fsite/index.php/deliveries-all-categories-sidemenu/specialty-vehicles/los-angeles-county-usar-trailer-detail Are the Hazmat trailers being replaced too, or are the tractors the only thing replaced?
  3. Where is the old one going? I take that the new US&R 88 has similar specs to the previous one..
  4. Because all trucks are assigned to a light force, with the exception of Truck 9. Each light force consists of an engine and a truck. Therefore, there is no need for the truck to carry water or hose.
  5. I believe US&R 88 is the only staffed rig in the city; the others are cross-staffed. I suppose an aircraft incident requires at least a first alarm response (2 LF, 4 engines, 2 ambo's, and a battalion chief) in addition to the CFR response, which should bring a substantial amount of personnel and equipment.
  6. Thanks! I guess I did not read far enough
  7. I wonder if the tillers will be dual axle like the ALF's...
  8. Intersting concepts. So I'm assuming that there is no assigned driver for the truck.
  9. But doesn't adding more equipment to a truck reduce the life span of a vehicle?
  10. How does Arizona use ladder tenders? Do the two always run side-by-side? Or does the captain respond with the rig at his discretion?
  11. I hope Pierce will use this design to develop taller ladders. If it is as strong and durable as they say, I don't see why this cannot be applied to a dual-axle chassis with a longer reach.
  12. Nice find! Can't wait to see the first Snorkel!
  13. Who won the bid?
  14. Saw on EVI's website that LACoFD purchased a new USAR trailer. Any idea where that is going? http://www.evi-fl.com/fsite/index.php/deliveries-all-categories-sidemenu/specialty-vehicles/los-angeles-county-usar-trailer-detail
  15. Oh, so they bought 2 of them! Definitely looks like an upgrade from the previous trailers!
