SFFD CO2 UNIT

6 posts in this topic

Is there a specific target hazard for this unit, or is it just that they have had a CO2 unit for a long time.  Just curious.  Interesting how departments  have their own specialty units , like LAFD Heavy Rescue(utility) LACoFd  Foam 10 and FDNY De-watettering unit

BTW I am aware SFFD has some other unique specialty pieces.  Anyone know what they are?

The CO2 unit is at station 13 down in the financial district [ high rise area ] of the City. That area has the highest probability of underground vault explosions and gets called out on them occasionally. Its crossed staffed by members of station 13.

Doesn't SFFD have a cliff rescue unit, a large hose wagon, and something for pumping from the fireboats in the event of a earthquake?
