SDFR USAR 4

I've noticed recently that rescue 4 is now identified as USAR 4. Does anyone know the reason behind this?  Did the rig lose a certification?

They changed to USAR4 when new pierce Heavy rescue similar to USAR41 went into service. As far as certification I suspect  their role has actually increased to higher certification

I believe in the incident command system  a rescue is now classified as a rescue ambulance and a heavy rescue is now a usar , with a designation  of type 1 heavy or type 2 medium

Yes, thanks...good information.  I will be bold to say I do not like calling medic rigs "rescues".  I think it is not a good or accurate category.  I prefer "medic #" call-signs, or even "squad" but not "rescue".  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!   Be safe out there...
