LT263

I see LT263 is on the blue floor at Pierce. Are they staffing it like Mesa LT220 or co-manned with L263 (which I thought was a quint)

Here is a pic, taken this week in Appleton.

I found the info in the SFMD board meeting minutes. I guess L263 "burned up" sometime in 2015 and it was decided that instead of buying another ladder, it would be cheaper to get an engine. This LT263 just like LT220post-151-0-88326900-1469407146.jpeg

Is this a true LT or an engine?

This is an engine, just like LT220, LT602. Not a Phoenix LT.

The bucket is at 264 so it will be the stick that's gone I believe. I'm not sure what's happening with it. It's currently in service.

Are you sure there not talking about the old L263 ALF Stick

It's cheaper to have a LT, that also can be used as spare, if one of the ladders go's down

I think you're right. Just not sure if it'll be co-manned or just ran seperate. I know they are creating a staffing pool and when fully staffed they'll bring up a truck. Not sure if this is related.

I'll have to ask next time I'm out there.

I doubt this would be co-manned deal. There's no room at 263 with the stick, medic, rehab and the cm (which is outside).

So LT263 will replace the ladder. The ladder is going to move to reserve status. I asked if the LT was spec'd similar to LT220 and surprisingly, they were unaware of Mesa's LT specs so we will see.

Pierce Mfg posted final pics the other day.

I don't understand why the tower went way out to Gold Canyon! It should be more in town.

Should be delivered this week. I also find it strange they're running 1 ladder now. Whats the next closest ladder company? L209?

Yeah I asked about that too. L264 and L209 are almost the same distance for the center of AJ and that's a pretty wide gap. I haven't gotten to talk to the guys at 263 yet so I'll post their thoughts when I do.

It was funny that they did mention Mesa adding a ladder out east (which is a faint rumor) as a possible reason to why they went with an LT. I believe it was just a budget issue and considering how busy 263 is.

When Station 221 opens in Eastmark,  they may put a ladder at 217's or 219's, Also new L4 should be going  into

service soon, L33 & L24 are getting new Velocity Towers next year

Somewhere around 50% of 219's calls are in 221's first due. I heard, too, that a ladder will mostly like go to 217 or 219. There's been talk about putting it at 221 but I can't see that, also with it probably being 2-4 years away. Eastmark has narrow streets with tree inserted; put vehicles parked on them and its an obstacle course.
