Peoria buying 5 ambulance's and will start transporting

and will be using AMR until they get it up running

No doubt the contract Peoria FD is doing with AMR will require Peoria to continue to allow AMR to do the 911 BLS transports after the FD gets its ALS ambulances up and running. That's why AMR isn't objecting to Peoria FD getting its own CON. Btw, I hope Peoria citizens are ready to subsidize their FD's new ambulance operation. It will be a money loser just like all the other FD operated ambulance services in the Valley. Phoenix FD's ambulance operation was the biggest loser. It lost $4.3 mllion last year. Sun Lakes FD's loss: $1.2 million, Sun City West FD's loss $363K, Daisy Mountain FD's loss: $829K, Buckeye Valley FD's loss: $1.2 million.

I really dislike Buckeye Valley using the ALS rescues to do inter-facility transports. It puts residents at risk if something major was to happen. Long delay waiting for SW ambulances to show up.

After all, the fire district isn't located in a remote rural area of the state. I agree. Those ALS rigs should be dedicated to 911 transports only. Besides, there probably isn't enough inter-facility transport call volume in Buckeye Valley's area that would help bring in sufficient revenue to make a substantial dent in their ambulance operation's red ink problem.

Daisy Mountain is experiencing this right now. At times, all of their rescues along with their medic unit are on transports from JCL.

I noticed a North County F & M District ambulance at a Scottsdale hospital ER today. That's a long way from home for them. I see from their website they're doing inter-facility transports too.

They have been handling IF from Del Webb for some time now. They have both Medic and Rescue units. SW actually does not have a CON for IF transports in that area. RM does. They used to dispatch AMT or RM marked ambulances into SCW when requested to do so.

I guess I wasn't aware that SWA's CON didn't cover the SCW area. Btw, it was revealed in the Maricopa Ambulance CON hearing that AMR will be eliminating a few of the ambulance service brands in AZ that R/M owned. Have you heard anything? I'm guessing the retirement list might include AMT and American Comtrans.

I haven't heard anything. I've noticed all the AMT rides are pretty much sold off. The Rural Metro Ambulance brand that has been running in Maricopa county have switched into Southwest Ambulance rides for both Interfacility and EMS. Leaving Rural Metro Fire rescues, Southwest Ambulance, and PMT ambulance. Not sure much on the PMT side. I would guess Comtrans and all of those other brands that Bob started.
