Heartland Fire & Rescue going on's

9 posts in this topic

For the past week I noticed an interesting situation.  At Station 9's (on North Marshall Avenue) in the center bay of the house, is the Pierce truck (T6).  So I am assuming this is now assigned as T9.  While city shops is right next store, I doubt they would be storing the truck there for continuing maintenance .  Years ago I made the recommendation that the truck (which is also El Cajon's rescue rig) should be housed/staffed at a lower volume house than 6's.  6's is heavy volume from medical aids (and frequent flyers or those looking for taxis to the hospital).  I am delighted to see this development with what I believe is now Truck 9.  I wonder how the staffing works, if it is cross-staffed from the E9 crew, or if they have staffed-up at 9's.  Then 6's will still need what was the truck crew to cover their high volume responses for MedAids, which I assume is being done between E6 and E206.  My assumption given limited budgets is that the truck is now being cross-staffed at 9's which has problems since E9 is the first-in rig for Gillespie Airport.

Saw on PulsePoint today just after noon a residential response in El Cajon, it showed both E9 and T6 on it, I have also noticedon PulsePoint that T6 not on any EMS responses last few days.

Noticed the Pierce pumper E9 has been in shops for about two weeks.  Been seeing them running the KME reserve, assume it is E209 on assignments.

To '619Emergencys' you are correct.  I saw T6 running code in 6' first-in, but a bit later this afternoon saw T6 back in the station house for 9's.

Today everyone from Heartland Fire & Rescue, El Cajon's station 9's, rolled by me on an aircraft standby at Gillespie Field.  B3, T6, R9, M9, and Pulse Point showed Santee's E4 and M4 on the assignment.  It is interesting T6 rolls as T6, but appears to be stations at 9's.

Does anyone know where B3 is currently stationed? I remember it being at Station 6 but it has been coming from La Mesa recently.

** Heartland Fire & Rescue T6 (El Cajon FD) is still operating out of 9's.  I believe this is something to do with remodeling/construction at 6's as the entire back lot of 6's has temporary construction trailers, it appears.

** A couple Sundays ago during the rain/wind storm, there was a downed tree in Pacific Beach (SDFD's area) that fell on parked and moving vehicles, killed a lady driving by.  Heartland's RE-12 (La Mesa) responded to Pacific Beach to assist SDFD rigs which included USAR 44.

** Last week in Laguna Mountains, a prolonged rescue operation involving a horse and its female rider, that fell off a cliff.  It turned into a technical rescue using ropes, and many agencies responded.  Lakeside's R3 responded to assist as did SDFD's Copter 1.  The rider was rescued and I believe ended up with non-life threatening injuries.  The agencies worked for many hours to save the horse but ended up having to put it down.

** Monday morning, Lakeside's R3 responded to the Alpine area, EB I-8, for a delivery van that rear-ended a slower traveling tractor-trailer truck.  The delivery driver was declared at-scene, and R3 was involved in a prolonged recovery operation.

** Santee appears to be operating a new medic rig.  I believe it was M4 but not sure.  All white with just blue in stripe(s).  It was the Chevy chassis.  Not sure if new box or remounted.  Look to me like it might have had a new LED lighting configuration in the rear.
