Are the new TDA's going to replace the current TDA's in Orange County's fleet or will they be replacing the older sutphen platforms that Orange County currently has?

Per the link

"These tandem axle units have an equipment capacity of double the NFPA requirement for an aerial ladder!"

ocfa 's sutphen quints are all in reserve status except for truck 9 and 34 which are on new sutphen quints. I think the 4 new tda's will probally go to the buiser trucks like 6,22,61 and those will be passed down . there are 4 trucks in ocfa still on 75 foot single axle quints which are well overdue for replacement, trucks 43,49,59 and 64  my guess they get the hand me downs

Anyone know if the any of the quints have arrived yet? It's been a year and would expect to start seeing them.

I passed the KME dealer in Ontario today and one of the OCFA tillers was there.

Did you get a pic of the new Orange County tiller at KME

No. It was behind a fence and not positioned to take a good picture. No numbering either.

Anyone have a guess as to which stations will get the new tillers? My guess is station 71 and 75 then possibly 43 and 49. Although I am not sure if 43's and 59's is big enough to house tillers.

The new quints were purchased to replace Trucks 43, 49, 64, 71. Whether they actually go to those companies or not remains to be seen.

according to the shop guy's they will go to 6, 22, 45, 61. my guess is that 6 and 22 go to 71 and 75 since they are currently non quints, those rigs will go into reserve  45's current kme rig will go to 49 and don't know who will get 61's

I wonder why they don't just send the new trucks to the stations that need them instead of do the hand me down thing?

because it slows down the wear and tear on them and increases the life expectancy meaning you replace them less often. that is done in most departments particually departments  that run paramedic engines

So OCFA will have at least 9 TDA'S in frontline service plus the 2 or 3 that used to belong to Santa Ana.

Thanks and can't wait to see the new trucks in service and I also remember when Orange County used to have snorkels back in the 80's.
