Posted March 27, 2015 In short, the AMR contract for Campo, Alpine, Jamul, and Otay has ended. Mercy will now be the ambulance provider in the area effective April 1st. Posted March 27, 2015 And let me clarify, Otay is referred to as Donovan's Prison Area. Not to be confused with the East Chula Vista area.
Posted March 27, 2015 I am not familiar with Mercy. While AMR seems to almost have a monopoly in some areas, it seems their quality is high, and I hope the areas losing AMR, do not see a decline in service. Thanks for the info.
Posted March 27, 2015 Doesn't Mercy provide service in Valley Center and Deer Springs areas?
Posted March 28, 2015 I saw 2 Brand new AMR Type 2 ambulance's at Santan Ford Yesterday
Posted March 28, 2015 Yes 'MesaBill', I think they do serve those areas. 'GilbertFIRE', some of those new AMR rigs are really sharp looking. I like the new colors. Wonder if Mercy's bid was much lower than AMR on this new East County deal? I cannot find Mercy Ambulance's home page using Google, are they owned by a holding company with different name? This is unusual that I cannot find them. Bring back Hartson's, and Medevac! Or bring Gold Cross with those Sprinters into San Diego. )
Posted March 28, 2015 If you read into the links, the new bid is lower than the AMR bid. Mercy doesn't have a website. However looking them up as Mercy Medical Transportation, Inc might give you better results.
Posted March 29, 2015 Unless they were sold in recent years they are owned by Westmed Ambulance which McCormick Ambulance in Los Angeles is also a part of.
Posted March 30, 2015 (edited) I saw 2 Brand new AMR Type 2 ambulance's at Santan Ford Yesterday AMR has 14 2013 Ford Type 2 and 6 2013 Ford Type 3 rigs registered by DHS to operate in Maricopa County. I haven't seen any of the Type 3 units yet. I'm guessing they're probably parked in a garage up in Prescott until AMR can generate enough business in the Valley to put them to work. Most of the Type 2 rigs are parked in AMR's Tempe garage. Only about 4 or 5 of those seem to be staffed. AMR has only been doing busness for little over a month so it will take a while before most of the rigs hit the streets and start generating income. Posted March 30, 2015 Thanks 'LKSENG3' and 'Nacho17'. They have a very low profile on-line, which is interesting. I also wonder the need to operate under all the different names (McCormick, WestMed, Mercy, Mercy Ambulance).
Posted March 31, 2015 Westmed bought McCormick and Mercy (San Diego county only) and kept the name known to the area but all are owned by Westmed.
