LAFD Command 22

2 posts in this topic

While driving home from work I noticed LAFD Engine 4, battalion 1 and Command 22 on San Pedro St in Downtown. Where does Command 22 based and how does it serve the department?

LA Fan 26...

This is what I found re: Command 22. The LAFD had a re-organization effective 1/1/15, to bring the department up to 4 bureaus.

Unit Designations and Radio Identifiers

All four Bureaus will operate with specific radio designations and identifiers. Each Bureau will have a common prefix convention: Operations Central Bureau is 2, Operations South Bureau is 3, Operations Valley Bureau is 4, and Operations West Bureau is 5. Examples: Operations Central Bureau Commander (Deputy Chief) call sign is “Command 21” with an MDC identifier of CM21. The Operations South Bureau Commander (Deputy Chief) call sign is “Command 31” with a MDC identifier of CM31. The Operations Central Bureau Training Support Specialist call sign and MDC identifier is “TO24”. The Operations South Bureau Training Support Specialist call sign and MDC identifier is “TO34”. See Attachment 2 for a complete listing and Bureau designations, call signs, and MDC identification conventions.

The terms “North Division”, “North Division EMS”, “South Division”, and “South Division EMS” shall no longer be used. North Division and South Division apparatus will be re-designated as Valley Bureau and Central Bureau respectively. North Division EMS and South Division EMS apparatus will be re-designated Valley Bureau EMS and Central Bureau EMS respectively. Supply and Maintenance Division will coordinate the application of new apparatus identification lettering as soon as practical.
